These are high quality too, comparable to the Redwires and Recabinet IRs. Use them for anything, not just metal.
He said a Marshall cab might be in the works too.

I just spent almost 2 hours comparing those with what's in AT3.5 (48k files, mic for mic at grill cap position, level matched)

I wasn't impressed. they're not bad but definitely inferior to AT3.5. I doubt it has to do with the cab they were using

and I found the U87 and NT5 IRs useless. where as the room mics in AT3.5 are pretty cool

there was no point in checking out the other mic positions

The edge position is far more balanced in regards to frequency. In my experience it's pretty rare for the cap position to sound best on any cab.

Ye, I found these a couple of weeks ago... I have to say, all respect to the fella for doing these and giving them away for free, no mean feat making all them, but I have to agree. They seemed a bit gutless compared directly to some of the other IR's I have (redwires Free, for instance).

No matter, I still kept 'em. Will surely be useful for layering!

maybe, maybe not. I never even implied that was the best position for anything

I just picked one randomly. my logical conclusion was that if they are consistently inferior in any one position then they are so for all others

Hmm. Well here's sm7b_edge_pres_3 on some guitars, does that IR sound similar if you toss it on your tracks?

First quick trial I wasn't sure, but tried again tonight, and I have the Gods Cab C414 TS version sounding better than Redwirez free, and not needing any EQ touches.
A bit of boost of Redwirez at 1.8 Hz and 150 Hz, and they are pretty much the same.

will check again tomorrow.

hmm, the demo vid sounds pretty good; it captures the thump of an oversize cab quite well, IMHO. I know that's not the same as actually using them but I'll get around to that ...eventually! Thanks for the amount of work put into these and making them free!
