Which was exactly the criticism levelled at Gen X by Baby Boomers who couldnt understand why we liked Grunge and didnt like Disco.I agree it's more about marketing and showmanship. In honor of that I'm inventing Grungestep. It seems all you need to do is think of a word and add a step, wave or core to the end of it. Perhaps I might amend it to Shaftesburycore. Shaftesbury being the name of the street I live on.
