It's suuuuper slow and takes like 10 full rotations of my scroll wheel to get to the bottom of the module select list.
I use an Apple Magic Mouse, no hassles here.

Seriously, what's wrong with workflow? It is a question of organising in my opinion. I put the oscillators, VCAs, filters, envelopes and LFOs in the first row, and CV, mixer and note input modules in the second row. When I create a more complex patch, I put some modules from the first into the third row. Works really great, I can't complain.

The workflow is bad man. Example

Compare it to VCV.

VCV is easy drag and drop in

Softube you have to press the add and delete buttons

VCV can resize to any size and zoom in and out

Softube has resize restrictions and no zoom functionality

VCV has a huge library

Softube does not

Post

Not sure what the size of the library has to do with the workflow though.

You are right, I just through it in there as a little extra jab

Quality > quantity. Always.

No, for what reason? It is, what it is. It is possible to work with SM very okay/good and that's what counts.

Post

Sure sure...still though, the workflow has a lot of room for obvious improvements that softube is flat out ignoring

The HUGE library is actually a BIG minus for me.
Choice paralysis, redundancy galore, mixed quality.
Killer of creativity.

Post

It seems to me that a lot of guys have not realised that all the module-ready effects and instruments widens the range and power of Softube Modular massively without distracting to much with heterogenousity.

Even if you just download the Mutable Instruments stuff, Befco and the Instro stuff you will have the highest quality stuff without too many modules! All free, but I would recommend blowing $15 on the Crytonic Filter!

Yeah, lack of oscillators… what do you think of those synthesis technology oscillators?

perpetual3 wrote: Fri Nov 10, 2023 5:14 pm VCV does have some nice filters and IMHO is much better suited for polyphonic anything.
Modular and polyphony is a dead end, it doesn't make really sense. Take a polyphonic synth with a good mod matrix and you have the same possibilities. It is nice to build a poly synth with Softube Modular, because of the sound, but that's the only reason.

And yes, VCV has some nice Cytomic filters, but it still lacks of (very) good oscillators and VCAs....

For the record I’ve had STmod since day one. I still think the workflow sucks.
