Desert Island...

A generic host that covers all the standards without any native instruments, or effects...

Somehow there's electricity...

Here's your options--

1 freeware synth
1 freeware drum sampler/machine
1 freeware multi effect unit or a combination of 3 different, 1 purpose effect vsti.
1 DVDR packed with samples and loops of your choosing

For me...
Crystal- I've had it for so long, and recently learned how to add soundfonts. I know my way around it pretty well.(All my other needs would pretty much be covered with the DVDR.)
Dr. Fusion 2
LFX-1310

Very difficult choices for me, and I don't know if I'd bind myself to them, but I have to contribute if I'm making the thread. :D

I would like to know what yours would be.

Only things I'd choose are Cakewalk Home Studio 2, SFZ and LFX-1310. The DVD I'd have would include all of my favorite soundfonts (Asian kit, Arabic kit, All in One and General User). Personally I'd rather take the Hyper Canvas over SFZ and all those soundfonts, but this is freeware so... yeah.
Mizutaphile.

I'd like a computer. How horrible would the be having all these vst, a bucketload of samples, electricity but no computer :(

That goes without say, dummy! :hihi: :smack:
Mizutaphile.

Ok then... :o
Boris K. Intro
Slim Slow Slider Cat Delay / A0 xFlanger II / Voxengo Boogex
Loads of drum samples (assuming my host comes with a drum machine)

I think I could manage with a CM DVD. OK, it's a bit like cheating, but hey wouldn't YOU cheat a bit when you're of to a desert island :D

Post

ok, another vote for a CM-DVD.

or alternative would be,
a laptop with just ZYN on it as stand alone app.

sun-bathing while playing zyn-pads all day long,
who just sound as nice as the island itself. :hihi:

There is not a lot to be learned applying physical world questions to the virtual world.

Then we are doomed to learn just a little from this thread.

Desert island? Me? Keep the electronics. Give me a pair of bongos.

Post

Keep the lot. Give me a boat.

Now with improved MIDI jitter!

This is hard. It would probably be a tradeoff between SuperwaveP8, NEOkILLER X2, and Crystal.

Dunno, but theres plenty.

NaiveLPF, some sort of parametric EQ (posihfopit), W1 Limiter

Samples from popular Roland drum machines, also a bit of percussion (Doru's stuff, most likely), some various tidbits like choirs and strings.
