Thanks for the recommendation, however I don't see much difference between UVI and Kontakt.Examigan wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 10:50 amHave you checked out UVI?Bippo wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 10:27 amWell, what is the alternative if you are software based?layzer wrote: Fri Mar 01, 2019 4:37 am you would have to put a gun to my head to force me to use
sample based instruments that take up gigs upon gigs of HD
space and complicated install BS just to make a stinkin song.......
but others will gladly use them. freedom of choice! yay!
Because I've never found a high quality acoustic sounds rompler vst that doesn't require at least a double digits amount of gigabytes.
The only vsts I found that were low on HD space were never as detailed as kontakt.
Xpand!2 is very lofi (altough it has a perfect workflow imo), korg m1 and roland cloud jv-1080 are very nice and easy on HD space, but you can wipe them on the floor with kontakt.
Seems like companies these days prefer to go for exaggerated amount of HD space for marketing purposes, instead of better scripting and compressed size.

They do take up a good deal of disk space (depending on which library is installed), but they work well. I never have issues with any of their products.
I just noticed this is the 5th thread about Sampletank 4 just on this page alone.![]()
Both come with quite mediocre default library, and then it all depends on what 3rd party libraries you buy. Since I already own Komplete, I don't see any reason to start from zero in UVI, it seems like they are just two parallel products, and seems like there are more 3rd party libraries for Kontakt
Honestly, I don't like the workflow of Kontakt and all these sample players, where you need to navigate between different GUIS for each instrument you load and wait long time.
I just WISH that korg/roland/yamaha would have release a solid all-in-one modern rompler plugin, and I know my joruney for high quality workstation vst would end at that point.
Unfortunately, they only got their old workstations avaialable in the form of vst (m1/ jv-1080 etc) and while their workflow is excellent, their sound is quite outdated and cant compete with their modern equivalent (motfix/ fa/m3 etc). I guess they are afraid of decreasing hardware sales if they take that route.
Unfortunately guys like me who just want a decent preset-to-go rompler for composing music are stuck with either going the Kontakt/UVI way (which brings good quality in favor of workflow and ridiculous hard drive usage), or go the hardware way, which I really don't want to go into.
All the other options for one-in-all rompler vst are nice sounding (xpand, halion, roland cloud jv/1080, korg-m1) but can't scratch the depth of modern hardware romplers.
Btw, tried to use sampletank 4 again, crahsed 3 times while I switched presets.
Had to restart my daw.
Also, I saw the bottom text which says "click for more sounds", thought it was just a bad substitute
for "expand browser", then I found out it directs you to a landing page to spend some more ca$h
Seirously, I think this has gone beyond the realms of just releasing a bad product to the point of some sort of secret social experiment to check how much abuse people can tolerate before you get sued

i live on an island in the mountains and i need a lot of patience, when downloading, because it is a snaily slow job and not half as good as a blow job.
a lot of people here on this forum are very priviliged, and best is, they don't even know it.
every time i come here to look for news etc., i need yet another lot of patience not to laugh too much about you, folks, cause it's going to hurt after a while.
