Yeah, there's no end to Brian's diligence! :tu:
...how ever he's managing it, I don't even miss the SC group anymore. So, that's a good thing! :phew:

Except for the NOISE thing and performance improvements, all later updates were rather cosmetic or file management based. You should certainly download the latest, though! 8)

Post

I did get working noise but I think I missed out on the filtered noise functionality (solved by EQ:ing).

Didn't have any issues with performance but it did crash Reaper when adding a new instance about once every four times or so. :)
Seriously, DAWs should auto backup any time a plugin is added...

(and I made my own playlist for now)

EDIT: Oops, made a strange double post while editing...

Post

Oh, yeah, it's likely that your crash problems are gone, too! I did make a special adjustment because of Reaper and thanks to Frostline and aciddose, who were both completely awesome in the Lord of the Strings thread!

Aaaawww damn. It is not fair making such beautiful track. These drums are for me? Thank you  . You really know your synth (that's cheating :D ). You tame your resonance beast. There are already some nice tracks here but this one shifted all other tracks down for me (no offence to all including me :hihi: ).

Post

 Thanks, Trojak! Yeah, I'm sure it's a little unfair, but at the end it's all music, you know. LotS is something special, yet, I know it just kicks open a door behind which a whole other world is just waiting to be explored/developed and there's plenty of magic to be discovered. By that I mean I've got lots of work ahead of me, pffff- and- YAY! :hyper: ...but, yeah, even as we're basically just standing in the door-frame, plenty of amazing things are possible. Alone the drums, man...what a fun that is to make them and you MOST CERTAINLY have inspired me a lot to go crazy, hehehe. I went a mildly tamer route on one hand and a more eccentric route on the other. Playing with tight delays for a kind of fixed flange really adds an fascinating amount of character. The opening and recurring steam like discharge is done with a super tight delay and left/right offset. A bunch of the percussion as well.

Anyway, yes, drums are for you! THANK YOU!

Well, with the month coming to a close, I wonder if I will attain my goal of finally finishing dead last for my finale OSC.

Should be an exciting week of voting.

OSC # 100... one of my favourite synths ever.... and VSTs now supported in Reason 9!
Can't give this one a miss, I would say!

Here is my very humble contribution:

I used 4 instances of the synth but they do not all play at the same time.

Well...It's short...

I didn't have any crashes, but I didn't have time for a big project. It behaved different with stuck notes than other synths I have used. Often made a DC signal and would quit making any normal sound. Mostly stuck notes in REAPER happen for me when repeating looping playback. Sometimes a muted note can do it.

Had a weird thing where some notes would not play. It seemed to depend on the Play/Edit cursor location when starting playback. Sometimes this note would be a minute or so after starting playback. Adjusting velocity from 90ish up higher seemed to fix it when I needed to render. Go figure.

It seemed to offer some interesting possibilities for some over the top sounds, but I had a heavy workload this month and couldn't devote a lot of time to master it.

Tons of fun. Love the Retro artwork. I've always wished I could use that hungry little guy more often.

One of the few free dynamic equalizers. Excellent work by Vlad G, as usual. AFAIK, Vlad later released the free TDR Nova with, you guessed it, TDR. It's a more refined and faster user experience IMO. Try Eco mode rather than Precise for lower CPU use.

TDR Nova can also be used for dynamic eq precision sidechaining (if you aren't using Reaper and therefore can just use any eq).

I’ve always loved this analog-style EQ. Runs nicer than SlickEQ for me.

Have they fixed that bug that softens the first transient, or do you just avoid using it on any transient-emphasized material? It could also just be my ol' computer.

I could work about 10 minutes at a time before everything froze up because of cpu spikes. I used 7 patches and ~ a dozen instances of other low cpu eqs comps and saturators (Melda, VladG, XFer, Voxengo).

I have just the synth for you ;) Maybe I'll post it in the general discussion thread, or you can PM me.

It sounds great, but I had some noise artifacts show up on one track so I had to get rid of it. I am not sure what triggers it.

I looked down at the little CPU readout info bar under the TCP panels a few times and never saw more than 3%. I guess it doesn't give you as much truth as Task Manager, but I never felt the need to check that. I have an i7. Three of the six patches were playing 1-4 notes, the others playing single notes only. I may have the 2nd spring set and/or body level at 0 in a few patches.
