Would you like an as is, sampletank 2 64 bit version?

Yeah, I worked in software development too, and I know this isn't a software issue but a marketing one, a business decision and a PR issue, and one that Peter just has to work with. I am not asking for a release date or have features promised, I understand why those would not be promised, just is there a free player version for people who use the current free player version? This is not a technical question and is not subject to the usual software development cycle. Anyhow, my apologies to Peter for being rude, just I felt a certain level of frustration upon seeing yet another non-answer, though this is the closest so far to a 'yes.' Lets hope we don't have to wait past 2013 to know for sure.

It is as close to yes as I can give, for sure, and it is yes right now. If it is hinted at not being yes, I do promise I'll do what I can to change it BACK to yes in a New York minute. I hope that's a better solid answer, or at least one that instills more confidence. No need to apologize, sorry that I got frustrated too and I REALLY want the same thing you do so it makes no sense to have argued on my part at all.

Remind me...Why do we need plugins to be in 64 bits again ?
If your plugin is a Synth-edit/synth-maker creation, Say So.

Why 64? For those of us who do live play, because we've transitioned to 64 bit hosts a year ago, thinking that surely all modern VSTs we use would quickly follow suit or follow the path of the dinos. It isn't an option to change hosts in the middle of a set, nor is it wise to jbridge when a loss of stability isn't the loss of a couple of minutes of reboot time but could be the permanent loss of a gig / reputation.
I chose to transition to a 64 bit host because I was concerned that my principle VSTs would no longer be made in 32 bit flavors, and because I hoped that running 64 bit plugs in a 64 bit host on a 64 bit OS inside a 64 bit wide bus microprocessor architecture would be more stable then when thunking between widths (although I've not noticed a difference either way). At that moment I left ST-32 and began using only Kontakt for sampling. I still follow the ST forums because I liked some of the lightweight Sonik Synth sounds and might adopt them if reincarnated as a 64 bit plug, but at this point I'd far rather them be re-released in .nki format .

They should just sell it to Presonus, to be recoded to x64, reGUIed and added to Studio One
* as IK's got close to no intensions for making it stand up to Kontakt.
* Because I really really like some of the sounds I bought from esoundz but hate the GUI and the bloody thing's got its own mind as to when to work or not...

Thanks, Theo. You are right that it is likely there's a Free version of ST3 that will let you use all of what you have and in 64-bit glory. I hope I finally was able to state a little more clearly how I felt about that too
I'm on board but I'm not the one who makes the final decision - but it really is normal trajectory for us to do so as we've been doing it with each product. I think the next big change will help, and not just as a mere distraction, to give a better roadmap (and not only on THAT front due to it not being IOS... at least at this point, but we're testing testing testing and I can't wait to be done!!!). Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks and that I am definitely getting the vibe of what you guys want.

Agreed, too much this :
Not enough this:
as far as the reps from IK are concerned! I've had nothing but good service with IK and their (surely) underpaid, and (certainly) underappreciated reps. So no messenger-cide, PLEASE!!!
I've sold lots of vintage synths, guitar pedals and studio gear on ebay over the last few years, and musicians make the vintage comic book and action figure crowd seem very easy going, and you KNOW what they're like!
You gotta remember, the company is based in Italy, and they take two hours to eat lunch (with wine!), and a month to six weeks for a summer vacation!

so a plugin in 64 bit means its more stable ?
i've been using Logic pro 9 on a Mac intel and the only times i've crashed is when i edit midi real fast with Geist CM assigned to the track. but it is repeatable meaning its a bug.
but thats it, my setup is rock stable, Maybe its just me or maybe its just a windows thing.
So far nothing has prevented me from recording and mixing, so if it ain't broke don't try to fix it.
but go ahead with 64 bit if it'll help, good luck
