Anyone knows what synths were created in plug-in (or plug-out, as they called them) format? I am very interested in that part.

I think I can safely say that I am going to own the lot!

Roland System-1 Details page wrote:Plug In and PLUG-OUT

The SYSTEM-1 can control—and even host—software recreations of classic Roland synthesizers. That’s right—the SYSTEM-1 gives you access to plug-in versions of legendary Roland synths, and they can be hosted in the SYSTEM-1 itself, with no computer required. You can even switch between the SYSTEM-1’s internal sounds and those of the hosted plug-in. We call this wizardry “PLUG-OUT,” and we’re pretty excited about it.

We think you’ll be excited too once you experience the supreme authenticity of the upcoming SH-101 soft synth, with the SYSTEM-1 providing an intuitive and fully automatic one-to-one control interface that just works. Let’s be honest: who could make a better plug-in version of a classic Roland synth than Roland? And the SH-101 is just the beginning—more PLUG-OUT synths are on the way.

Yup... I'm definitely going to be thinking about buying a System-1 keyboard now.

The TB3: The horror. What an appalling piece of junk.
The TB8: Want!
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

So... the offshoot of this SYSTEM-1 synth is Roland are now officially in the VSTi development game. The 'plug-outs' will also be available as plug-ins, it appears :D

also, another video:

That's not how I read it. They called them "plug-outs" for a reason. I think this system will be similar as used previously by Clavia in the Nord Modular. You can use the instruments in your computer but they run "inside" the System-1 (which is a pity, because this way we will be able to run just one at a time).
The positive side is that we can use them without the computer. V-Synth already had this, with the D-50 "card" which we could use instead of the main synthesis engine.
The difference now is that we can use the computer to "see" them and "edit" them (hopefully). All this is just me thinking loud, though :?
But starting with the SH-101 when we have such a good emulation as the Tal Bassline-101 for peanuts is not very smart :nutter:

yes, it looks like a £500 dongled controller with a selection of proprietary plugs and an on-screen librarian. Still, it works for USE audio and UAD. I can't figure out the lack of velocity though, when you can get that on a £30 MIDI controller these days. What were they thinking??

They were thinking bad, as usual. Or they thought that, since the SH-101 (and probably the others they want to emulate) were not velocity sensitive, they could leave that out. :nutter:

they also called them VSTs for a reason, if you pay any heed to the Roland Reps in the video I linked to at least.

Of course, they haven't specified if the VST/plugin versions will operate independently of the System-1 controller. But even in the likely scenario that the System-1 serves as a dongle/DSP ... a VST version is still a plugin, and will still benefit from all the VST/ITB luxuries that are associated with plugins. instant recall per project, preset management etc etc etc. People still call dongle protected VSTs 'plugins'... for a reason.

So ya, plugins. itb. That's exactly how it is, and how I read/hear it ;)

Seriously, what do you want from Roland? They even made their original acid machine by accident - it is meant to be a guitarists companion for practicing alone.
Peace and tolerance
