i've looked everywhere now - and incredibly there is very little out
there in the way of Novation Remote mappings, especially for hardware.
the Novation site doesn't have very much and it is mainly oriented
towards plugins. either there isn't much of a culture for this, or people
have not been inclined to share their efforts (or just don't want to bother
with inputting sysex or learning it)

i was looking for a map for the JV1080 for Remote I - apparently
there is one included on Remote II - and of course there are various
free and commercial options for editing that box via computer, but i would
really like to have hands-on, intuitive control of it from the Remote,
eg: have a kind of PG-1000 for JV

I have a Nocturn and I did most of the mappings by myself (I shared a lot of them a few days after I bought my Nocturn... maybe one day I'll have a look through my mappings folder an share a few more, but I usually map just the most sensitive parameters, so I'm not sure it's really worth sharing), but I use it only for plugins... Well, I use it also to control hardware, but I wrap a vst editor, so I don't bother directly with control changes and such. Wrapping a ctrl-based vst editor (as I do with the Pulse 2) works fine in my experience.

By the way, does Automap supports sysex? I'm pretty sure it doesn't with the Nocturn.

But you have Automap (computer-only) in your thread title.

I've made a mapping for the Shruthi-1, but the Remote can't do some of the NPRNs. Like the modulations (e.g. 32 + 3 * (n – 1)). It can't do negative values either (needs MSB & LSB), but there's a CC for those.
One for the Evolver, only CC, because most sysex is with 2 variables (values), which the Remote can't do. My workaround is automapping the Soundtower VST editor, which works great!
And I just started making a mapping for the AN200. Sadly, that one also has parameters that use 2 sysex values.

After that, I'll make one for the Kawai K1.

If anyone's interested in my Shruthi-1 and Evolver templates, let me know and I'll upload them somewhere.

i think you're supposed to add up/sum
the msb+lsb and then convert that to hex.
there was some way to combine the two values as one, and
then you are only using data entry.

has anyone tried learning a sysex string with the remote?
eg: wiggle/toggle a parameter, learn, write? does that work?

yes, not 'Automap' - that's the utility for detecting VST plugins.
(thought it might get a bigger audience)

Most parameters are there. The parameters under the sliders on page 1 have 100 values in 10x10 steps. I did it so everything would fit on 2 pages. If interested, I can make knobs/encoders/sliders out of them, in a 3-page version... just let me know!

Just finished it, but I haven't tested it - if something's wrong somewhere, let me know & I'll correct it.
