Hi everyone,
I'm starting a new thread for G8 to break off from the discussion in the Sandman thread.
We've released G8 1.1, which is a major update. This has been in development for at least four months, and has gone through some serious beta testing from our most demanding users!
Here are some of the features:
-Audition Mode! This was our most requested feature. You can now listen to your sidechain inside of Expert Mode, including any mixing and filtering applied to the four channels.
-True zero latency. G8 originally used one sample of delay. We re-wrote a significant portion of the DSP to achieve this, but G8 will sound exactly the same!
-All latency reporting bugs fixed. We had one or two reported crashes in Cubase when sudden Lookahead changes occurred. Those are gone. In addition, G8's latency reporting was often off by a sample or two. Now it's 100% accurate. If you sum G8's output with a phase-inverted copy, you'll get complete silence, no matter your lookahead setting.
-True bypass mode. For hosts that support the VST bypass standard (Cubase, etc.), G8 will now report its latency during this mode. You can now automate G8's host bypass without any artifacts.
-Display bugs fixed. You can close G8's interface and re-open it, and your display settings will be maintained.
-Interface improvements. These are back-ported from improvements made with Sandman. You can now double-click any knob to reset it to a default value. We swapped positions of the LP and HP sidechain filter, since a few users were annoyed by their positions.
We're very proud of this update! You can download it now from your license page, or download the updated demo version, available from http://unfilteredaudio.com/g8.html

Indeed! The RE was actually patched before we fixed the AU/VST issue. We're having a slight issue with uploading to the Prop servers, since we're using an old version of the SDK to maintain compatibility with Reason 6.5. I'll send another e-mail and double-check the status of that. We just posted a "Completely Unfiltered" bundle that has all of the racks for a reduced price. Josh is working on the interface for our next RE, too, so hopefully we can get that out in the next two months.TheoM wrote:Wonderful! Michael, will the RE also benefit from a zero latency update?
Also, how's the logic sidechain coming along? Any eta?
Cheers!
We've added a few gentle pester-posts to the JUCE forum checking in on the AU sidechain issue. It's on their to-do list, but I would be making up any estimated date for that. I apologize, as it's been a major source of frustration for us!

Thanks for this plugin
I got the CM version and after going through their
tutorial I just had to buy the full version.
I am sure it will be on many of my future tracks.
Cheers

Awesome, thank you! I'm really happy that G8 is starting to find a larger audience. It's definitely a complex beast, but we're very proud of all of the strange things that you can use it for.sbj wrote:Thanks for this plugin![]()

You can setup a flexible MIDI sidechain in G8 (CM or full). It has the advantage of giving you the ability to setup separate envelope contours on the sidechain and the gated signal. It's a bit more work, but I think that it's a feature unique to G8 that is worth exploring!

This looks very nice...Any chance of mid/side functionality in the future?

It's something that we could consider. Our next G8 update is definitely variable attack/decay slopes, so that takes current priority. What sort of mid/side functionality would you be hoping for (i.e. what controls, workflow, etc.)? I don't use it a lot in my own mixes, so we would be deferring to customer opinion on this one.ibanguitar wrote:This looks very nice...Any chance of mid/side functionality in the future?
Our release schedule looks something like this:
-Fault VST/AU
-Sunder Rack Extension
-Sandman 1.1 (Kill Switch and Reverse Delay)
-G8 1.2 (Variable slopes)

Mid/Side support like Pro-G has, right? I'd be interested in adding that for sure.
Sandman AAX might also fall in between one of those releases, although I'm not sure what the demand level for AAX is vs. VST/AU.

Yes like Fabfilter pro-G and the Flux gates. Being able to gate/process the mid (mono) and side (stereo) of the audio independantly. It also would be cool if you could somehow sync the daws host tempo to some of the gating/tremolo effects.
