So I made the mistake of installing a new freebie V11.

My paid for V9 plugin disappeared.

I checked and according to Waves Central all my plugins appear under "Licenses, Connected devices" (my hard drive). All have a blue tick next to them and the only option on the right is to Deactivate. So I assume the licenses are activated.

However the older plugins don't show up under "My Products".

I've run the Version Organiser. No change.

I would ask Waves Tech support but it says it's only available for people with a current update plan.

Any ideas? This is a mild irritation as the S1 imager is the only plugin I bought and now can't use. Just reminds me again not to invest any further time on Waves.

You could try reinstalling your V9 plugins with the corresponding legacy installer from www.waves.com/downloads#older

You did not make the mistake of installing the V11 freebie.

You possibly, made the mistake of not installing JUST that license and plugin. Anything other option would trash the existing installs. It is very easy to mess it up.

You are not alone.

yay! it worked. Took a long time to download - long time to extract from the zip file but I have my S1 imager back!

many thanks!

I'm one of the throng that got caught in this little marketing clusterf**k trap. Pretty sneaky. Easily solved, but a real PITA. Is that really the way to bring customers in?

well at the same time I downloaded another freebie, this time from Tal, another company that I had another paid for plugin. Went to the Tal site. Clicked download installer. Unzip installer, choose version of installer, click install. Go to Cubase, there it is, add to the modulation FX folder. Maybe 7 mins.

As opposed to 2 or more hours with Waves. I get the need for copy protection and installer managers, I have Izotope, NI, Plugin Alliance, Eventide..and ilok. None are as complicated as Waves. I was put off buying Waves stuff because I'd heard people had problems, this experience has re-inforced that and I won't buy or even download freeware from them again.

Softube is another company I've avoided over the whole installion, gobbler etc etc thing.

It requires the legacy installer if your versions are older than 10. It jacked me up too. Stupid. Arturia is a good example of being able to install legacy products side by side with newer versions. Why can't every dev figure this out?

They want having multiple generations to be an ugly possess, because they want you to keep on top of your W.U.P.

I'm starting to think it's not ignorance. It's well calculated move. They kept the backward compatibility working so people won't eat them alive, but made it exactly just a little incovenient so we are tempted to buy WUPs. They're probably sitting down, staring at the forums reactions and having very wide smile caused by how on point this plan worked. Hats off, really.

I doubt they are watching forums and I'm not sure any company wants a reputation for being difficult to work with. One thing that troubled me was how quickly some of their new plugins got discounted, it's not just the old stuff which is probably understandable - and if you wait long enough they all get discounted - I really don't know how sustainable that is. But they've been in business a long time so I guess they know what they are doing.

But they'll be doing it without me as a customer.

Yeah. I mean ... I've eased a bit since my thread on this topic. If they offer something REALLY cool, I'll probably bare with having two Shell plugins. But otherwise I feel the same way. Untill they stop play the game like this, moving forward I will always consider other companies first.
