I am a singer songwriter looking for the best program for creating minimalistic synth pad’s to accompany vocals and acoustic guitar. IMHO, when these work with this type of music (soft rock, folk) they are barely recognized by the listener. Don Henley’s “For My Wedding” comes to mind. I am looking at Komplete 12, and Omnisphere among others. I am more in the “search, sample, and slightly modify” camp then the “sound design camp”;no doubt. I play keyboards but am primarily a guitarist. Having said that, I am pretty exacting about the sonics, if not the science. Thanks for your help.
MAC, UAD x4 Interface, Pro-Tools, Bock 251 and Various SDC's, Genelecs, etc.

You might want to ask this in the instruments forum. But be prepared to be slammed with posts from people suggesting their favorite synth, which is not necessarily the one that is best for you.
From your description I think that probably any polyphonic freeware Synth or sample player should do the job. Don’t know whether there’s one for ProTools/AAX though.
Doesn’t ProTools include some kind of synth or sample player?
If money is not the issue, Komplete or Omnisphere are good choices, but it might just be that you spend more time wading through ten thousands of presets than actually making music. Probably overkill.

You are an *Accoustic". I know exactly what you mean and I think I know what Kind of Pads you are looking for.
Omnisphere is a good Option. The other one is Korg Triton/Collection, which is currently in on Sale. Many old Felllows inside and really smooth Sound.
I don't know any other VST that I'd recommend for your Purposes, except maybe the Roland Cloud.

You already got Xpand and Vacuum inside Pro Tools, explore those, Omnisphere might be overkill for your needs, you are better off digging into something like Diva and Repro, which got amazing 3rd party sound sets that are much more in your ballpark.

You could give Spitfire Audio LABS a shot as it focuses on "real" instrumentation. It's a very minimalistic VST having quite decent realistic instruments (pianos, synths, strings, guitars, etc.) and you can achieve quite competent results.
Take care

This hint is not so bad. Xpand has maaany presets, especially in the direction to pads. The same with Hybrid 3. Not sure, is Hybrid 3 also part of ProTools?Passing Bye wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:03 pm You already got Xpand and Vacuum inside Pro Tools, explore those
Maybe you have already, what you need.
