Melodyne: Once I bounced the edited Melodyne track to a new track, edits on the original track are lost.

I dont know if this is a bug in melodyne ARA or if I am doing something wrong.
I have a vocal track which I've just edited and completed. I saved my project multiple times while editing and checked that my edits were still there. Perfect.
Now I bounced the track onto a new track and the new track sounded perfect. I just happened to find a small tuning glitch which I wanted to fix. I thought of going back to the old track which still had Melodyne loaded onto it, edit the glitch and bounce again.
However, I found that all my edits were lost!
Is this normal? Why did this happen?
Is there a way to restore the edits?
How can one avoid this in the future?
Is there a way to save the edits in Melodyne itself for security?

I am on Logic Pro 10.6.2 and Melodyne Assistant 5.4.2.006 ARA
