Dadda Sounds LiveCut Enhanced for Windows

LiveCut from Smart Electronix, was a popular “live breakbeat cutting” VST from back in 2004. It came before many of the stutter and beat repeat plugins that would follow. And I used it a ton.
It was so much fun to set the parameters, and then let it do its thing with my beats. The results were sometimes unpredictable, and that randomness was part of its charm.
This morning, I received an email from Dadda Sounds announcing the release of a new, enhanced 64 bit VST3 version for Windows (no Mac version unfortunately) available for free here: https://daddasounds.com/products/livecut-enhanced.html
Here’s a quote from the email:
“Under the hood: a modified DSP engine
Previously, LiveCut only started a new rhythmic "phrase" on a bar line. If you looped a region shorter than a bar, or one that didn't contain a downbeat, the engine could get stuck, going silent, or never starting, until you stopped and restarted playback.
I fixed that. The engine now detects the playhead jump that happens at a loop's wrap point and uses it as the cue to start a fresh phrase immediately, downbeat or not.
What that means for you:
- Short loops keep cutting indefinitely
- Off-downbeat loops actually produce sound
- No more stopping and restarting playback just to "wake up" the plugin”

That's great news, thanks. I like to use it on all kinds of source material.

Hell yes, this is cool. LiveCut is a classic. I can't wait to test this out soon. Thanks!

Hi all!
Thanks for the post and share.
Regarding Mac, I don't have a Apple Dev account and refuse to pay 100 USD dollars a year for releasing free plugins
HOWEVER, I did compile it on my MacBook from 2018 as a VST3 for Mac's so I'd be keen to release it if it's possible to run it despite it being unsigned

You can download it from the Google Drive link above and let me know if it works out for you guys. I won't however, be able to compile it as a AU as that requires a payed Apple dev account.

Here's the source code btw!

Just have an AI agent compile it for you if you don't know how to
