Looking for some help with some very old files that I've just discovered on a DVD in the attic. They're old Cubasis VST .all files that I would like to 'rescue' to MIDI if that is at all possible.

I'm guessing/hoping that maybe a modern version of Cubase would be able to open them. They're the only files of have of my first ever song writing efforts from back in 2005 - didn't think about things like portability in those days.

Ayy help that any KVRers might be able to offer would be very gratefully accepted. Suggestions for conversion programs also welcome :)

Sample .all files available on request :help:

Maybe the same disks also still have CuBasis program files backed up? Open the project and export to midi...

You can open/convert them using cubase up to sx3 version. I did it a few time years ago, I had mixed results (because of old plugins) but midi was perfect. If you have a more recent version of cubase, just grab the sx3 (or sl3, depending on which version of cubase you have) from Steinberg's ftp and you're done.

If you don't have a Cubase license or you get into troubles at the conversion stage with cubase, send me a pm as I still have the original cubasis vst 3 and 5 install disks and I think I could convert the songs for you (if they are not too many) or give you remote access to my old pc (right now it's somewhere in my storage room, but I think it still works... somehow...) so you can do the task by yourself.

Thanks for the suggestion :)

Now been all over the Steinberg FTP site (they're going to be wondering what's going on...) but the files mentioned in that forum thread require you to have a Cubase license already. There was a demo of Cubasis 3.7 but my stuff was done in 5.0 :(

Apparently SX3 might be able to do the conversion but I doubt there's many people who still have a copy installed these days.

Currently, a Cubase license allows you tu run all the old versions. Maybe SX3 would work with the Cubase demo's license too, as it's fully functional during a month. You need a dongle, though.
