It's strange that they let that slip through. Hopefully we will get more information soon. Hackers are usually motivated by money rather than just playing pranks on people.dellboy wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:00 pm How odd, the web page says the same thing twice, has it been hacked ?
Probably new authorization, native M1 support etc couldn't make the deadline for 11.5 so they just skip it.pixel85 wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:16 pm So, probably 12 months of speculations, lists of hopes and worries.
I guess that if they would want to release it early 2022 then it would be 11.5. 12 sounds like something that will come 2 years after the previous full version was released. I hope I'm wrong but I don't expect miracles and rainbow unicrons![]()
No reason eh? It's pretty obvious..chk071 wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:20 pm Hmm... could be an indication that they already use their new authorization system with Cubase 12. Otherwise I don't see a reason for - a later release date; skipping a paid .5 upgrade.
I would bet that this is the reason. It's better to skip a version and release later than release lackluster one (like RX9 for example).andypryce wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:23 pmProbably new authorization, native M1 support etc couldn't make the deadline for 11.5 so they just skip it.pixel85 wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:16 pm So, probably 12 months of speculations, lists of hopes and worries.

Or maybe Steinberg will be nice to us and Cubase 11.5 will be a free upgrade and in a few months we will get 12![]()
Well, it's only weird if you actually expected any better from Yamaha at this point..jamcat wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:36 pm That’s weird because PreSonus got a fully M1 native Studio One out already and it was just one part of a free .1 update.
It's just a number. A major version update looks better when you have to much major new stuff, like a new authorization system, and M1 support.PAK wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:30 pmNo reason eh? Owners of "certain new laptops" are realizing they're up a certain creek without a paddle, and have started to contact Steinberg asking them "WTF? When.. ". This is their response.. And no .5 because they simply don't have time to do it and get a native version out ASAP too. Thus it's skipped.
Be assured that they wouldn't have done that, if a new version was coming so soon. My Studio One 4.6 hasn't seen any update since they released version 5.jamcat wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:36 pm That’s weird because PreSonus got a fully M1 native Studio One out already and it was just one part of a free .1 update.
I'm no developer but Cubase is how much older than Studio One? My guess is that it's just harder to update all that legacy code for the M1. But maybe that's not even the hold up. Maybe they're just moving to a 1.5 year development cycle with costlier full-version upgrades to bring in more revenue. They could still be working on the Remote Control API and upgrade, or HiDPI, or maybe all of that stuff.jamcat wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:36 pm That’s weird because PreSonus got a fully M1 native Studio One out already and it was just one part of a free .1 update.
