The more I play around with Amp Designer and the Stomp Box, the more I like Amp Designer, especially mixing and matching amp and cab combinations to produce unique sounds - like the Mesa Boogie head into a creamy Tweed 12 inch speaker.

Just as a curiosity, does it still bleed the cpu dry like the old logic amp did?

(this will shock allot of people) I actually have thought about going.......gulp......macbookpro with logic and an apogee duet

I think the new amp designer is a great included effect. It is more than capable of creating legitimate guitar tones, and I use it often, especially the pedal designer. However, I think amplitube fender is far superior to amp designer in most respects. The best feature of Logic 9 is varispeed, and cant believe it hasnt been in a major Daw until now.

sweet set-up, I am just using a regular old macbook and a presonus firebox, and am totally happy with my set-up. what the hell did we do before computers?

amp designer sounds great. I don't use any high gain/metal type of sounds, but for clean, trashy, twangy, dirty, I like it a lot. Really like that white amp, and the pawn shop, and the blackface.

Pedal board is great, some really nice effects in there, and I never notice the CPU hit. I have gotten on the habit of bounce track in place (from when I did notice the CPU hit), which also forces me to commit to a sound right up front.

do it hibidy, do it. :D

I can't do it till march at the earliest, but I was thinking about it.

The thing that is funny is I was checking out the amp designer and was thinking "wouldn't it be nice to just have a lappy and a small/good soundcard and then just hook the other stuff up when necessary????

Anyways, sorry to hijack (still would like to know about that hit though, it was pretty high with the logicpro 7 version)

I have that exact set up, with a late 2006/early 2007 Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro. I'm also running Logic 9...

The Apogee Duet is superb as you'd expect, and even with my aging laptop Logic runs well, I generally only find myself needing more power when I've got the bulk of the tune written and have reached the embelishing stage!

Oh, and personally I find the actual amp designer effect to be superb!!!

f**k yeah, that Apogee Duet is a great reason to go Mac. Well, not great enough for me, obviously :hihi: but still an awesome little thing. :D

I just have to mention that I cashed in some IK bucks and got Amplitube SVX and realized that there is no better bass amp sim ever made, and if you disagree you are delusional, wrong and stupid :D

Amp Designer and the new PedalBoard are amazing... I love the Vintage Marshall and the Tweed (love em all really)... I use my Boss GS-10 Interface for all my High-Gain needs though as Logic's High-Gainers are just a bit too noisy for my liking. Tell me that BLUE Boutique baby ain't the coolest thing ever ;)

I use the pedalboard even without Amp Designer - just really Cool pedals
