The trumpet part(Miles'Tone I take?) is an immediate throwback to Zappa. And thats always welcome IMO.

Are you using anything on the master bus?

Let's break it down quick:

Bass = boo bass, obviously (Paranoia II is a pretty sick filter, eh?)
Hand perc = FL FPC drum sampler
Flute-ish sound = Modelonia
Trumpet = Miles'Tone
Genesis = that kind of vocal-esque interjection occasionally

then the ones listed after "break" and "outro" are on the master bus, the wet/dry automated to bring the effect in where needed. Is that what you mean?

Automation = good. The varispeed and accelerating nature of this track is just playing with the tempo controls, and what ultimately makes the polyrhythmic drift happen.

crazy cool. I couldn't help but play with the wave a bit. I de-speeded it. Choc full of sound design stuffs and you know I like that. As per usual, i hope my playful manipulation doesn't offend you, Runagate.

This is why I wish I had a songwriting partner irl for my new project. Even I, as much as I think about music, don't always stand back and think, "Now that this doesn't need to be fast, what can I do?"

Partially it's that resomatic wigged out and crashed FL and I tried to save but it f-ed the project file. I didn't actually intentionally have resomatic make those two weird parts where there's that "demo noise burst" like sound, it's supposed to be playing to the midi notes I sent it. But the result, broken, amuses me and is appropriate. That's why the fsu breaks are a little shady in the transitions, too. Damned DAW crashes! Lol. I'll just pass it to you to play with.

If I can reverse engineer it, you're welcome to the whole thing.

Yeah, me too, but he's helping me to see that for people without a desire to hear as many possible mutation events per second like I do a lot of the sound design is not accentuated, which I appreciate.

Miles'Tone is one of the few payware VSTi that I've shelled out scratch for and one I simply couldn't live without. I also still have, and use, 3 of the betas and Sax-O-Phunk!

It'd just involve me screaming underneath a whole lot of reverb, delay, granular and other FSU, in no particular effect chain order. Toss in some Dick Cheney quips, serve cold with lemon.

No worries - been here before, will be here again someday - this too shall pass. It's all a cycle. Still, it's great to hear music that resonates with me. Makes me feel like there's still an escape hatch to be found.
