---------------

I finally got time to create a VSTi from an idea I had many years ago. So behold, I present you the Soundfont Enhancer VSTi:

Beyond the simple Soundfont loader, it features an enhancing sample variance controller. The sample variance is controlled by any degree of velocity and/or randomness. This makes your instruments sound more realistic. What it can do is provide many more velocity layers for a piano, sounding deep and mellow when played softly and brighter when played loudly. The randomness comes especially in handy for instruments where every note you play might not necessarily sound the same. Mess around with it, you'll find that this tool works well with any melodic instrument (no drums).

Basically in the soundfont loader it accesses different multisamples in different regions of the keyboard. When it needs a deeper-sounding sample, for example, it will use a sample from a few notes lower, etc. Therefore, the more multisamples in the Soundfont, the more effective the sample variance controller will be.

Enjoy!

This is only a sort of beta version, so if there's any suggestions, that'd be cool!

Hey, I've been havin fun with this thing. Thanks! Could I get a random detune?

Post

Genius...I compared it with the default FL SF2 player, serious difference, good work.

A random detune, as in it randomly plays some notes out of tune? I could implement that easily. Just curious where that'd be useful, though...

Just a guess, but by random detune I think by only a few cents.

yes

i'd like to make Steinway Grand Piano 1.2.SF2 sound beat up. i'd also like it for German8.sf2 and ReynMusicBox1.sf2

a random template with seeds would be nice too

checking it out now, thanks!

I've been implementing a lot of new useful things for the latest version. I have the random detuner (and you can also put up the key velocity to make the detune even more). I also have a main sample shifter. So you can take a piano and shift the samples to turn it into an instant techno piano.

New version released! I overwrote the old download link, but in case you're too lazy to scroll up, here's the link again:

I added a few cool things to it and revamped the GUI. I also put in a little "enhancer" button that makes everything sound cooler. Now whenever I load a soundfont I am addicted to having the enhancer button on. :)

N'joy!

Note: The sliders turn darker when they are at a non-zero value. This is useful so you know when the sample shifter slider is at zero.
