Hi.

MauSynth is free(donation) synth by Pekka Kauppila.
The synth can create modern sharp sound, soft pad, etc... 8)
But there is no user presets except mine.
Why you don't create presets for the synth?
I think the reason about it.

1 High CPU usage
If it does not work on your computer, you should decrease voices number and unison number.

2 Unlabeled modulation knobs
UI of MauSynth is Intuitive. OK, I created a picture.

Helpful? :D

3. There is no AU version.

Are the presets the same on both versions (metro/steel)? I'm on my phone...

I'm waiting for MauSynth 2.

Well, that and I'm also inept at sound design. :hihi:

Mausynth doesn't work with SAVI host?

Trying the 32 bits steel version, and can't get it to load up in SAVI host.

That is one of the very few synths I have encountered that doesn't work with that.

But it works in FL Studio though 8)

A nice little synth this. But where is the octave selector for the oscillators, I try to push the triangles but nothing much happens?

No Mac version.

Most probable reason - is that it's 'free/donationware' category - and not part of the very select few that have cult status, it basically boils down to mass psycology/dynamics. Even though most would vehemently disagree - most people follow the beaten path.

Ironically, the best motivation for a 'free/donationware' developer - is random people using the product - making presets and songs - and letting the dev know about it.

Offering paid patches for a free synth is odd :D

And free patches? Few people make the effort to program great patches and then give them away for free.
I have hundreds of patches for free synths, many are quite good imho. But I would never give them away, I only give them away when I no longer use a given synth for my music.

In the case of MauSynth (which in Portuguese means lousy/bad/poor synth :D ) the odd user interface is indeed not very helpful, either. It just doesn't appeal to me and many other people. I tested the synth, it sounds very good, but not spectacular enough to make me deal with that user interface.

As a synth, maybe MauSynth is just too simple for people to make patches for it? The user interface is the only thing that makes programming patches in that synth a bit difficult. If it weren't for that it would be a pretty standard synth of the Charlatan level.

There are also paid synths that hardly anyone seems to make patches for. For instance most SE synths, even the good ones.

What is striking is that many developers themselves don't seem to bother making decent factory patches. I don't understand that. People sit down and develop their synths for hours and hours, but don't spend some time to make good presets. Instead many ship their synths with annoying patches, hastily programmed, trying to sound as spectacular as possible, without any class. And many times they give their presets odd names nobody associates anything with.

Maybe you can answer this question. Why should we create presets for MauSynth? What would be the motivation for a sound designer to spend time and effort on this synth? Is there a large untapped market willing to pay? Is there something unique and fun about the synth to justify the effort? I don't know anything about MauSynth so I am asking out of curiosity.
This space has been unintentionally left blank.

Where in the original post, does it say that commercial presets should be made?

As the OP share free presets himself, I think the meaning behind this posting was for users to create free presets for mausynth and share.

yep, OP said user presets. i guess this is the exact opposite of commercial.
