Getting MIDI files out of FL8

So I'm back from vacationing in the warmer weather, and I wrote a few tune ideas into my laptop. The only DAW that I can travel with is FL8.

So I've got some great ideas in FL8 and now I'd like to recreate them in Cubase 5. All this would really require is that I bring in the MIDI files from my FL8 tracks into new C5 tracks that I set up. The problem is, I can't seem to drag them out of FL8. When I try rendering to MIDI in FL8 I can't figure out how to configure it so that I isolate the MIDI data that I want to export.

I'm sure there must be an easy way to do this, but dang if I can figure it out.

Any FL8 power users out there that can help?

there are two methods ...
the one i prefer works in pattern mode , and is non-destructive :

insert as many 'midi out' channel inserts , as you have tracks to export ...
as you insert them , they name themselves , and assign channel numbers sequentially ...

right click on a track , and select 'copy' ...
right click on a 'midi-out' channel insert , and select 'paste' ...

continue until you have copied all your track data into the 'midi-out' channel inserts ...
from the main drop-down menu , choose :

> file
> export
> midi file

you can do a 'save as' , and save this version of the original ...

the destructive method is to choose :

> tools
> macros
> prepare for midi export ...

this method turns all channels into 'midi-out' channel inserts ...
if you choose this method , be sure you have saved a copy , first ...
