We are pleased to announce Snapback, the instant drum layering effect from Cableguys and electronic music pioneer BT.

Add Snapback as an effect to any drum track and it detects each hit, layering new samples on top in perfect time. Stack a click on a dull kick for instant attack. Layer stereo sizzle onto thin snares. Beef up boring hits with analog sauce samples. Add punch, style and flair in a way that EQ, compression and distortion cannot.

Next, add missing groove and magic with the one-of-a-kind Snapback section that places a special “snapback” sample before each hit: a quick "whip" of reversed sound that gives digital hits a lively, believable attack.

Never before possible in a plugin, this secret trick of pro producers for animated grooves is now only clicks away. Get classic pre-shifted claps in seconds. Add unique reversed textures before kicks and snares. And avoid boring, over-quantized grooves with exciting between-the-beats motion.

Snapback is on sale now for Black Friday at just $29 instead of $49. Or buy it in the Cableguys Bundle that contains $638 of plugins (Snapback, ShaperBox 3, FilterShaper XL, HalfTime + more) for only $149. ShaperBox 3 Bundle is also on Black Friday sale at just $89.

See how Snapback works with Joe at Cableguys:

Features

200+ Professional Samples
Enhance your drums with over 200 professional transients and “snapbacks” by BT, Virtual Riot, Goldbaby and Cyclick. From pro punch and presence to indefinable vibe and character.

Punchy Transient Layer
Choose a sound from the Transient menu to instantly add it to your drums, synced to every hit. Explore specialized kick and snare layers for attack, presence and space. And stack vinyl crackle, vocal cuts and foley hits for unique results.

Unique Snapback Layer
Add a special "snapback" sample before each hit, for a "whip" of reversed sound. A secret trick of pro producers for lively, animated mixes, now you can skip all the hard work of lining samples up by hand – just choose a sound to instantly glue it to the front of your drums.

User Sample Import
Want to use your own sounds? No problem, just drag any sample straight onto the Transient or Snapback layer. Store it to your library permanently with a click of the Save button.

Detailed Controls
Shape your transients and snapbacks with the extra controls. Lock layers tightly in phase with your drums, adjust their envelopes, transpose them and more.

Smart Features
Fine-tune the world-class audio triggering with three modes, adjustable response and external sidechain. Trigger from MIDI for total control. And lock in your levels with the transient-aware Limiter.

Precise Visuals
Easily understand your drum layers with the color-coded waveform display. See how it all sums together with Output mode and zoom right in with Detail view – your audio microscope for aligning transients.

Pro Presets
Get started in seconds with pro-designed presets for all the key use cases. And sync your own presets to the cloud so you never lose them.

Not just for kicks, claps and snares!
Use Snapback on anything. Try it on percs for pop, sparkle and body. Make hats sizzle and cut. Make real drum recordings cut with consistency. Give instruments fresh character and presence.

I was smiling the entire time watching this video :) . I guess I'm 100% the target audience and will be buying this immediately. I honestly don't even need a demo lol. Combining Snapback with Triaz and EZdrummer 3 is going to blow my mind lol. Please consider adding a randomizer in future updates.

Too bad there isn't an automatic phase alignment option (at least to use as a starting point).

Worse... most of the audio examples in the video sound better without the plugin IMO. Might seem more impressive if your speakers don't have much bass range, or if you think "brighter = better"....

How much for the cableguys bundle if you already own Shaperbox 3?

The Cableguys Bundle upgrades are also on Black Friday sale. If you own ShaperBox 3, it's €69 / $69 and adds Snapback, Curve 2, FilterShaper XL, HalfTime and MidiShaper.

I upgraded to the entire bundle.

But I agree - there needs to be a phase alignment / rotation tool similar Kick 3.

You can align phase using the Shift, Polarity and Pitch controls, in conjunction with the Detail View. See the "Shape Your Layers" chapter of the YouTube video at 8:17.

Cableguys, is there any master output option for the plugin? I cannot find it, and currently it's adding a lot of extra volume. And it would be great if you can add modulation for it.

Excellent. I upgraded without even demoing.

To be clear - can we rotate phase WITHOUT affecting pitch?

No, there is no master output. The concept is to apply it on drums that are already about the right level in the mix, but are lacking some sonic element or character that's needed to cut through.

There is a built-in Limiter for controlling peaks when they do occur, though – just turn it on with the button on the left, then drag the threshold. Thus you can enhance drums while keeping a similar peak level, so the action of, say, compressors or mastering limiters further down the chain does not change much.

It's not phase rotation but shifting layers in time, just like when you zoom in on the DAW timeline and move samples back and forth to get them in phase.

And yes, you can slide the layers using the Shift control, and it does not affect Pitch.

Instant buy...

It would have been much better if it were also possible to host plugins to exchange samples, instead of only tediously dragging and dropping all the time. This way, we could use drum library plugins like Atlas or XO, unlocking a world of custom Snapbacks with the fastest possible workflow. Also, unlike your other plugins, you didn’t implement a single randomizer to mix up settings on the fly or, for example, to randomly select samples from the browser or combine different ones. Huge missed potential here.
Its over for Bitwig--CUBASE WON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can import full folders of samples, maybe this helps. See the "Show User Sound Folder" option in the Main Menu.
