Thank you very much for all the work and effort you have put in to make this great synth. All of us cannot wait for the new updates including MSEG. Please continue the work in happiness, with all the beauty and creativity we all know you are capable of!parawave wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 9:03 pm Sorry for not being all that active here. Of course we're aware that continuous communication would be preferable for some very social folks here. But the initial release & feedback phase went stale after a few years.
There was every possible feature request gathered. Some were implemented, like the big granular update. Some are still planned -> MSEG. Some were abandoned, like a Wavetable Editor. To be honest, at this point there isn't much to gain here or to show. On both sides. This showed at the end, when the discussion wasn't constructive anymore.
Under the hood development isn't all that exciting. And there aren't any flashy screenshots or videos to show. These will be created after the release of major versions, like the 1.8 Granular Synthesis showcase. It's just that a big part of Rapids development is reiterating on ideas and designs and experimenting with a good and easy workflow that still offers complexity when desired and guarantees that the performance gets not degraded by bloat.
The MSEG Editor for example is already implemented and working. It's just not fully integrated with the other new systems, because they are still subject to change. It almost made it into this release, but it would be more confusing to change the workflow after that again.I know this is a common problem for game servers, or very old products from "another era". They just stop and users are screwed. But to calm your nerves. There is no reason or incentive to stop the service or compatibility updates. We love our synth and will continue updating it. Even if it's just for our own use.DJErmac wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 4:29 pmNo regrets here also so far, but I must say I’m a bit worried that they could close for good, because activations when reinstalling...SLiC wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:48 pm Rapid developers are very quite (on all platforms, facebook, twitter etc) but the synth still works great and sounds great. No regrets here.![]()
And since it’s one of my mainly used synths, this could stop me from doing a fresh new setup if activation isn’t guaranteed to succeed...
Parawave, are you still around please ? Is everything OK ?![]()
The recent update was not intended to be flashy but to guarantee exactly this ongoing compatibility and resolve the recently reported issues.
Hope you guys still have fun using it. As always, I would love to see the stuff you create. It's motivating to see users getting inspired or have fun using Rapid![]()

Nice tip thanks! It indeed helps to bring back the global volume level of Rapid and the presets back to something less hot. -6/-9 works well.aberration123 wrote: Wed Nov 22, 2023 3:25 pmHas the new install overwritten your audio level preferences?Teksonik wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 11:22 pm Has anyone noticed that this version seems to be louder than the previous version? Yes, nice tip indeed. I had forgotten that setting even exists so I don't remember what it was set to before the update.Neon Breath wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 1:19 amNice tip thanks! After the update mine was set to 0 dBFS. Even some of the factory presets are too hot at that setting and mine are really hot but then I like patches to be hot in general. I can "fit them in a mix" later. I guess I must have had it set to -6 before but I can't be sure.
If anyone is planning to install the update can you please check and see what your Audio settings are before and after? It's possibly faulty memory on my part but I sure don't remember my own patches being so hot in past versions.
So what setting does everyone use? -6 dBFS ? I suppose if we're going to share patches it wouldn't be a bad idea to settle on a common number otherwise presets will be all over the place in volume.

Well that's one thing we can agree upon.zvenx wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 2:07 pm I use 0db.. I like loud and turning it down in the mix, generally for all synths.

Yes when I'm playing a synth I want it to be loud and proud and at full weight. As you say we can turn it down in the mix later if needed.
So do you find a volume difference in this version? I've had to set mine at -6 dBFS to keep my old patches (and some of the factory patches) from being way too hot. Of course I can always go back and edit the volume of my patches.
Ok, I'll set mine back to 0 dB and then adjust from there.

Tbh I don't use Rapid enough to notice that.. it was your first post on the topic that made me go investigate, but it had been awhile since I really used Rapid, so I wouldn't have noticed.

latest update 1.8.8 runs very solid with Live 12 as VST3 with Preset change - nice work
The only disturbing thing is the protction - as it wants to be every months reactivated - it would be easier to let the plugin connect for relicensing. This donwload of license is time consuming - would be faster if rapid would sore lohin details and refresh like any other internet authoresized plugin

@parawave please allow license transfers. I've had this from 2016 (paid over 200€) and it's still a great synth, but I hardly use software synths anymore..so it feels weird to be stuck with it.

Isn't it EU Law that you have to allow Licence Transfers?turrikaani wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:12 pm @parawave please allow license transfers. I've had this from 2016 (paid over 200€) and it's still a great synth, but I hardly use software synths anymore..so it feels weird to be stuck with it.

Laws are only as good as they can be enforced and no plugin user/group of users has the time and or resources to take a developer to court to allow them to transfer a software license of max couple hundred Euros. You'd pay more in legal fees to a solicitor before they'd made a coffee and scratched their arseSLiC wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:24 pmIsn't it EU Law that you have to allow Licence Transfers?turrikaani wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:12 pm @parawave please allow license transfers. I guess that works both ways- its just a serial number to activate? What stops someone selling their account/serial! Parawave wont sue you given that it IS legal!PieBerger wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:28 pmLaws are only as good as they can be enforced and no plugin user/group of users has the time and or resources to take a developer to court to allow them to transfer a software license of max couple hundred Euros. In theory yes, but the seller is a much weaker position. If Parawave caught wind, they could revoke the license from the new user, triggering a payment dispute, potentially leaving the seller out of pocket and without a license. It's a risky move, not one I'd make personally.SLiC wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:17 pmI guess that works both ways- its just a serial number to activate? What stops someone selling their account/serial!
