i agree, i will likely go for it very soon. only thing holding me back is i technically have more than enough synths but this might be come my no1 synth for ease of use. there were only a few interface decision/niggles i had, else it is truely rapid and sounds great. and i mentioned it but cpu load was very impressive, not sure whats going on there. oh and the gpu rendering thank lord, it helps alot running graphics on a very expensive custom component instead of my poor cpu.

Ahhhh damn, my wallet can NOT catch a break. This was not on my wish list but it does sound incredible.

Has anyone bought any of the expansions and if so, what’s good (they all sound to notch)?

Also, I remember they did that goofy thing with Vat for people who live in the US. Is that still a thing?

Post

Since there is no mention of Apple Silicon support on the roadmap page, they might not be aware of it. :hihi:
Or simply they do not plan to support.

Yup- applying VAT even to people who don't pay VAT- for that reason I haven't bought any....

I knew that Rapid in active development, but looking at new roadmap I’m veeery excited, beyond my expectations. Despite the fact that I love Rapid crystal clean punchy sound engine (subjective, but this hi-tech blastness is obvious for my ears), I’m using it like FX box way more often. The quality of every FX module is astonishing and Rapid can save you a bunch of money in the future if you’ll learn what it can do. So, this is the reason why I pay attention about new modules to FX section. Looking forward to.

Yes, the FX plugin is probably worth the entry price on its own.

Wasn’t MPE on the roadmap at some point or did I imagine that?

Actually, I am experiencing some intermittent UI glitching generally during playback/under CPU load. Drop down menus sometimes appear white with no text content, or with the weird pixelation patterns, and there's GUI lag also.
I hope it will get fixed as I really like this synth, it's fantastic. I think it could quite happily become my go-to tool. It's fast with a simple layout, and whilst it's possible to run out of LFOs or suchlike, generally there's a solution via layers which brings it closer to a modular environment.

Edit: Forgot about the Open GL toggle, switching it off.

The GUI here displays 'ARM 64' in the top left corner.

How is that allowed?

It runs natively on Apple Silicon machine.

There seems to be something about companies who just have 1 product (like Spire) were the updates are slow (you would think it would be the opposite with just one product) but irrespective, great sounding feature rich and nice looking synth that really isn't missing very much at all...everything is just a bonus from here as far as I am concerned and every update to Rapid has been free (there have been a lot of updates since it was launched). I don't see to many other VST makers giving an update roadmap for their Synths...
I have it as my main synth and think it's great. The workflow, modulation, and effects is awesome. The filters are ok, other synths have better in my opinion. There's a lot of great options around the same price point. The development pace was fast at first. Then an almost 2 year gap between updates happened and probably slowed their momentum. I think people (such as myself) expect 1-2 updates per year on synths nowadays. Also preset packs are expensive. So it's not a clear standout vs the competition for those reasons I think.

Especially at 50% off, Rapid is worth it regardless of the NFR IMO. But to be honest, i never really look at what a companies policy is regarding this if I'm purchasing something i like. I just make sure to test it thoroughly before buying. The only synth i regret purchasing is Pigments 3 lol

One thing of note, the bus layering is often not talked about with Rapid. With this and the 8 layers you have a ton of control with the routing, modulation and effects. Reverb & Delay sends that are all routed through a Sub group gives you a ton of control.

Im on a 2018 Mac Mini and am not experiencing any of the GUI issues that others are posting in big CPU sessions. Not sure whats going on there.
