Can people be banned for being obnoxious? I can understand coming here to see if anyone else has the same issue so as to bring it to the attention of the developer, but such pointless whinging just ruins any useful potential the thread has...

In todays world you can be banned or cancelled for almost anything. Be careful for what you wish for because before you know it you'll end up in a echo chamber devoid of anything outside your comfort zone.PebbleInAStream wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 2:46 pm Can people be banned for being obnoxious? As far as Parawave go they provided a functional synth, their last Christmas message seem to indicate they were adding new things - in retrospect it now looks like they were just flogging another library.

I feel sorry for the dev--he loves his synth and he loves to code. Too bad there are a couple of bad apples who feel the need to go on every platform available to whinge and complain and bad talk Rapid. It must be a personal thing because other softwares don't ever get treated with such nasty spite.
Anyway, trolls are gonna troll. Don't feed them.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

to be clear , yes i have issues with Rapid because of the stability
but i like rapid a lot , so no hate here
but there are good developers outhere , for example steve duda
you write him and he fixed bugs at the same day
and rapid is very expensive on the long run ,
so Criticism is not hating
but the developer from Parawave never answered emails or respond here
and you cant sell it either
I will go back to serum
i think this synth is dead

Exactly. No, someone can't be banned just because you don't like what they are saying.Doggo wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 4:31 pmIn todays world you can be banned or cancelled for almost anything. As Doggo points out, that would leave KVR as nothing more than an arse kissing forum if no one can say anything negative.
As for "other softwares don't ever get treated with such nasty spite", not all developers behave in the same way so not all developers get treated the same way. Reputations are earned.
You'll notice that it's always the same developers that catch heat here. There are reasons for that.

Just my 2 cents: if Rapid doesn't work after a Bitwig update anymore, it might be an issue from Bitwig. If other plugins work perfectly fine after a Bitwig update, it might be a flaw in Rapid which may have been there since forever but just now shows. Either way, a non-responsive dev doesn't help that situation.

I suspect it's pretty much a 1 man company (single developer at least)

I know it's at least 2 devs. The sound designer (Marko, Mark, Mirko!?) once advertised heavily for the synth and later admitted he's also involved in developing it.

A bit like the Avenger Synth in that respect, a main developer with a sound designer who contributes and shapes ideas and also has a fairly deep idea about sound.MirkoVanHauten wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 6:51 pm I know it's at least 2 devs. The sound designer (Marko, Mark, Mirko!?) once advertised heavily for the synth and later admitted he's also involved in developing it.
I put my money firmly on Parawave, have since taken my bow tie off and realised I backed the wrong horse again.

admitted? both the devs names are all over the place in the preset author credits and in big letters in the about dialog.MirkoVanHauten wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 6:51 pm I know it's at least 2 devs. The sound designer (Marko, Mark, Mirko!?) once advertised heavily for the synth and later admitted he's also involved in developing it.

This wasn't the case from the beginning. There it was rather sneaky. From "what a great synth, look at this" over "btw I'm just a sounddesigner" to "I'm part of the dev team and write code". Full disclosure looks differentLargos wrote: Thu Dec 28, 2023 12:40 amadmitted? both the devs names are all over the place in the preset author credits and in big letters in the about dialog.MirkoVanHauten wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 6:51 pm I know it's at least 2 devs. The sound designer (Marko, Mark, Mirko!?) once advertised heavily for the synth and later admitted he's also involved in developing it.

It actually doesn´t matter who is involved in which way...
Fact is there were made a lot of promises and the last 2 years we received updates which probably a talented programmer implements in 5 minutes (overdriven)...
I consider Rapid as a now hobby project of the dev, who probably has not made enough income from the synth and has to work now fulltime in a different area...
So it´s not completely dead but things have slowed down extremely if you compare the change log...
What was before added in terms of "new features" has now slowed down to "make it at least useable" and the since 4-5 years promised new features haven´t still not shown up and probably never will...
I mean just compare the developing speed and what was provided:
https://parawave-audio.com/rapid_version_history
2018:
4 updates
34 additions (huge ones... new osc inserts, new effects...etc...)
17 changes
26 fixes
7 optimizations
2019:
1 update (but a good one)
15 Additions (again huge ones)
10 changes
12 fixes
14 visuals
1 Preset addition in 10 categorys with 316 new prests in total
2020:
2 updates... again huge ones...
16 additions (huge ones)
2 optimizations
10 changes
12 fixes
2 visuals
2 Preset additions in 7 categories with 351 presets and Multi samples plus 1 new free soundbank (Granular)
2021: ------
2022:
for me the last try to get back into the game...
2 updates with nearly no head lines apart from VST3 support...
5 additions (more on the meh side)
8 changes
13 fixes
4 visuals
2023: and I highly doubt we will see another huge update in the remaining 3 days
1 tiny update (at least better than 2021)
1 addition ... more tiny it actually couldn´t be...
8 fixes
And please don´t argue with any "plandemic" reasons for 2021 till now...
Both releases in 2020 came with the plandemic being the strongest (lockdowns etc...) already long being in place and at the very end any lockdowns cannot influence at all a single homeworker...
Think about what you see like you want... for me it´s clearly the beginning of the end for what reason ever... it´s the exact same pattern like with Zynewaves Podium but Fritz at least had the balls and decency to talk to his users honestely... same with Markus Krause...
Here we are put off with huge promises and things are dying behind the scenes already since 2 years more and more...

I just don’t see that it matters, Spire hasn’t been updated much for years but it’s still one of my favourite synth. Rapid improved a lot over the years and is still a great synth to make music with, I enjoy it as it is.
