Blame Apple and your choice of hardware. if you think NI is going to recode GR5 after 4 years just so it will work in whatever lame OS Apple decides is a good idea "because it's September" - that will never happen.kelvyn wrote: Sat Nov 25, 2023 9:59 amGuitar Rig 5 doesn’t work anymore with the new updates… how hard can it be to maintain backwards compatibility.
I do not understand how any plugin, DAW or instrument vendor does not go insane trying to maintain a working lineup when the MacOS gets changed out every 11 months.
Over here with Win 10 - I could probably pull out GR1 and have at it with no issues.

Native Access doesn't work on my system anymore after the recent update. The previous one worked fine. I bought a couple of Kontakt Player instruments during black week, and now I can't register them, so I can't use them in my previously registered Kontakt Player. Waste of $100. I've tried re-installing an older version but NI automatically install the new one
Goodbye NI. Anyone want to buy some Kontakt libraries?

I would contact their support, before you say goodbye forever.

Or at least tell us "exactly" what the issue is OR what libraries you are having issues with.chk071 wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 7:48 pmI would contact their support, before you say goodbye forever.
Simply saying that NA does not work anymore - is not exactly saying anything.

It’s a recurring POS and PITA
For me it working fine on my Arm based Mac, but struggles to work on my Intel Mac.
The problems are well documented. The solutions, less so and can be very time consuming to problem-solve with their support.
Just mentioning as I’ve gone down this road with them many times recently and while it can be fixed, it seems destined to break in a future update.
So when someone says they’re done with NI, I don’t doubt they might consider what they own from them, not worth the trouble.

Of course, it's his decision. But, that's what support is there for.elxsound wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 7:57 pm So when someone says they’re done with NI, I don’t doubt they might consider what they own from them, not worth the trouble.
Seems a bit early to bury your head in the sand.

Done that. Waiting for a reply.chk071 wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 7:48 pmI would contact their support, before you say goodbye forever.
The issue is that the previous version of Native Access worked on my Windows 8.1 system, but it automatically updated the last time I launched it (to register my new products) and the latest installer fails to finish downloading so I can't register my new Kontakt Player instruments, which means I can't use them.Vocalpoint Studios wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 7:49 pm Or at least tell us "exactly" what the issue is OR what libraries you are having issues with.

I have a wonderful new M2 Macbook Air. I love it, so I'm not an Apple-basher, but there wasn't a single thing in the last OS worth updating for. Not one. And yet despite the lack of any meaningful change at all they've somehow managed to cripple audio apps yet again. Avid have said it was almost unsolvable, but they've fixed some stuff in the latest MacOS dot update to give them half a chance.
So don't blame the devs. Blame Apple, this nonsense can't carry on every single frickin' year.

Note that Windows 8.1 is not officially supported by NI anymore (see here when you scroll down: https://www.native-instruments.com/de/s ... -access-2/).thecontrolcentre wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 8:07 pmDone that. Should work anyway though (I guess).
That said, I don't know if support can do anything about it, when you're on an unsupported OS.

Can't imagine how you expect any current Native Access version to work on an OS that is retired and not supported by anyone.
And NA1 (the first version) is now defunct as well - but some folks still insist on running it for whatever reason.
Get on over to Windows 10 and the most recent Native Access (3.8.0 released today) and I can almost guarantee smooth sailing.

I am not an Apple-basher either but do get very tired of reading about typical Mac users ALWAYS assume the world revolves around Apple and then blames every third party vendor when something does not work.noiseboyuk wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 8:15 pmI have a wonderful new M2 Macbook Air. I cannot even begin to ponder how you guys put up with this every bloody year. It is insane.

NI are the only company that doesn't support my OS. Every other plugin I have works fine. If I was still able use the older Native Access I would be fine, but it's not possible. NA tries to update if I open the older installer. Will see what support says, but I'm not expecting a solution. Just annoyed at being unable to register my new stuff without installing a new OS

Got news for you - NO company out there supports your OS.
"Working" vs "Supported" are two completely different things.
You only have yourself to blame when things start breaking by using an OS from 2014.
The "solution" is to get current and get past this retired OS.

No, not really. A lot of companies only support Windows 10 and higher. Steinberg and Arturia, for example. Windows 8.1 is not supported anymore by Microsoft since January 2023, so, a lot of companies won't support it anymore.thecontrolcentre wrote: Tue Dec 12, 2023 8:42 pm NI are the only company that doesn't support my OS. Works fine doesn't equate to "supported". If you happen to have a problem, you won't get any support from the companies which state that their software is only tested and supported on Windows 10 upwards.
