Not only did we just play a blinder of a gig (pity more people weren't there, but, hey, it is London!) and get paid for it, but earlier I had legendary guitarist Huw Lloyd-Langton in my studio recording some guitar and vocal parts.
Pity I have to keep awake now until sometime mid-Sunday afternoon - I may get a little quirrely :-(

What does that mean? I thought London was a huge, bustling city with lots of people and opportunities?kp wrote:...(pity more people weren't there, but, hey, it is London!)...

London is something of a nightmare to get people to go and see live music (in my experience): there are lots of college bands who get their friends along, but once outside college, it's all but impossible to get work colleagues/friends to come (for a variety of reasons) - not that you'd expect people to come time and time again just because you know them, but once would be nice for support...I'd got about 10 people saying they'd come along and of them 2 turned up (although they really enjoyed it) - that kinda sucks.
Advertising seems to be a nightmare too (OK, we screwed up a bit this time and didn't get the posters done as early as we should have done): a lot of the free advertisers (eg. Metro, which has got a huge circulation and would be a great marketing tool) don't actually seem willing to display adverts for weekend gigs (or live music gigs on many other days). I assume it's for space/cost reasons, but clubs and theatres always seem to be included (yep, I'm a tad bitter about this).
vurt: I'll say hi to Huw - when I'm more awake (I've now awake up since yesterday morning at about 8am and I can't face any more caffeine right now) I've got to do the mix of Moonglum with him on it, so I'll be getting a CD to him sometime soon. How far north do we need to come?
