The local secondhand shop here was closing down for remodeling, and I wanted a particular mic they had (AT 4033
), so I paid them a visit. In their desire to get everything out of the place for the remodeling, they were selling stuff cheeeeeeep.

(nice work on that one, Eric!). Whoohoo! I love days like this!

In the 80's i bounght mine for £20 and sold it for £100, the only pice of hardware i wish i had kept.Scot Solida wrote:I managed to grab a Roland SH-101 for $40 (the grey one, no handgrip)
I had a 303 given to me free with a 707, which was good, i sold the 303 for about £50, a year later they were going for £500.
I'd still use the 707 , but i would never use a crappy 303 unit.

Weren't you once looking for the patch sheets from the SH-101 manual? This one actually came with the manual, believe it or not!

OMFG!Scot Solida wrote:I managed to grab a Roland SH-101 for $40
These are the kinds of stories that keep me trawling pawn shops every once in a while, hoping for the unbelievable deal from a pawn shop owner who doesn't realize what he has. It was much easier before the rise of the internet. I remember being in Houston in 1990 or so and seeing a Korg VC-10 for somewhere around $40 and a MS-10 for only a little bit more.
I've promised myself that I don't want to deal with hardware, especially aging equipement with difficult- or expensive-to-replace parts. However, I would be tempted if I could find a deal like Scot's.

Damn I was at a Pawn Shop today and all they had were crap guitars at higher prices than they sold for new.
