... went all the way from Leeds to Whitby (2.5 hours each way), to play in a working mans club with a local synthpop band.

Sound system was rubbish, had to play very quietly due to H&S noise levels, no real way to mix, and had loads of technical issues.

The average age of the crow was about 14, so no chance to pull  and well behaved like provincial kids :x .

However, sooooo many of them came along (nothing else to do on a Friday night) we (ourselves!!) made £100.

:-o :-o :-o

Two and a half hours each way - did you walk? :o :)

Whitby's a great place though - it's got one of the few "proper" sweet shops (i.e. everything weighed out from jars rather than pre-packed) that I know of. Luckily for me one of the rest is a 60 second walk from my house :)

If you ever want an older and much worse behaved crowd you only need to go down the coast to Scarborough - the stuff of nightmares (and home to my mother-in-law!)

Derek.

You're supposed to add "...but I repeat myself".

It was the oldest car in the world (really!!)

We might be playing a gig in scarborough very soon with the same band, so will keep that in mind

I love whitby so much. Have been about 10-12 times in my life, mainly for long weekends with the family, so know many of the little shops and places (the lucky duck shop!!)

The phrase "These truths we hold to be self-evident" springs to mind for some reason - can't think why
