But then what would I know, I'm a bass player who only recently turned to The Darkside and got into the six string business. Maybe someone should start a GDI thread. I'd do it but who'd wanna read "How To Get A Guitar Sound That Somewhat Sucks" ...
And Bduffy, that X-Amp is a vey nice little gizmo. Where's that been hiding? Some nice guitar effects by those folks as well.
Yeah! I don't know why it's not listed here - I presume cos it's in Beta?

I guess different tastes. ;) I have planned on posting a GDI soundclip thread so that people can make up their own minds. I really think that it sounds more natural than many if not most other amp sims around, though. I find that most other stuff (including Guitar Rig and Amplitube presets) sounds too hyped, not like a real amp. A real Marshall should have a certain snarl to it, something detectable just by running your fingers over the strings (to create string noise). No amp sim that I've tried yet really gives you the immediacy or snarl. The GDI comes a lot closer.

Plus, it's only $35 US. Even if you ONLY liked the "Clean Tweed" sound or the "Brit Crunch" sound, you're still getting better value than any plug-in that I can think of. At the end of the day, if you decide that the sims are really doing it for you, at least you ended up with a D.I. box with ground lift and XLR output. That's not such a bad thing at all.

I think Uli gave good value for money with this one. :D
