LONDON (Reuters) - Four members of seminal British rock band Pink Floyd will play together for the first time in 24 years at London's Live 8 charity concert for Africa on July 2, publicists for the event said on Sunday.

Guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason and keyboard player Richard Wright will be on stage with bassist Roger Waters for their first public performance since they played at London's Earls Court in 1981.

The rock legends will join a star-studded line-up including Coldplay, Elton John and Paul McCartney

How do they fit into that lineup? :? :? :?

I guess they want to target a younger audience, so they can raies more money for the Africa.

All they need to do now is to break Syd out of the asylum and the line up is complete!
eh?

I've heard that Syd lives at home, but his family won't let him have contact with the band. They blame the rest of the guys for his problems.

It would be awesome if Syd could just come out for one song.

?

Didn't they reform temporarily for a concert in Berlin, when the wall was being torn down?

I wonder if this is a one time thing or if it's gonna restart things. You'd hope they could all see eye to eye, but maybe their creative differences and ego's just don't gel anymore.

Nope. That was Roger Waters with various other bods.

Wow, thats really cool. I've read some interviews with Roger Waters and I'm surprised he'd do this actually.. Didn't seem on very good terms with the band at all.

Reform? You mean they're giving up on playing The Wall? Good.

Oh . . . wait, you mean as in re-form :dog:

Yeah, they are going to do the wall onstage again, only they are going to build the wall from back to front so that Dave and Roger are separated while they play. :D

But seriously folks, only 10 posts??!!! one of the finest bands in rock history, pioneers of electronic music, authors of an album that was on the charts for 10 consecutive YEARS, gets back together after 25 friggin years of bitterness and all we have are 10 freaking posts? C'mon people!!!!

Post

Only 10 posts... Problem is, PF haven't released anything worth a damn for, what, 20 years? That means the younger posters probably couldn't care less about PF, and the older posters are burn out from listening to the same songs so many times. OK, that leaves out the fanboys who have all the Gilmour Sings albums and all the The Wall Live DVD's, but I bet those don't read KVR.

Personally, I listened to PF a lot back in the 80s... mostly borrowed cassettes... mostly the Dark Side-Final Cut era... liked them OK at the time... but honestly, how many times can you listen to the same ****? It's not like it's Beethoven. Wouldn't mind if I don't listen to any of the PF catalog for the rest of my life. These days I only own (and listen once in a while) Piper.

Well, I hope the concert goes well, and all the PF fans have a great time, but for me there just isn't much worth getting excited about there. I mean, the 4 of them are going to get on the stage and play "Wish you were here" for the millionth time... what can I say, I'm glad for the fans.

Oh well...

10 posts on a monumentally boring and pointless bunch of dinosaurs reforming for one more bow in the spotlight! What would these old c**ts do without saint bob and his cheridee circuit?

I don't know...I loved The Wall and Dark Side etc but I also like the latter-day Floyd stuff. Not as groundbreaking, of course. But Momentary Lapse of Reason was a very good album to my ears, although I admit it was pretty much downhill from there. I saw them live a couple of times in the 90ies and they have a really good act.

But then I am a guitarist so David Gilmour is of course one of my gods.

I can like some of Roger Waters' stuff, too, like Radio Chaos.

A reunion is, er, cool. No big deal to me, even though I consider myself a PF fan.
