hey guys, i do lot of my work at my friends studio and he recently bought a Korg Triton Extreme. Still need to chk it out but it looks rock solid.

i do all my work in cubase , and always work with patch scripts when using external samplers/ synthesisers.

Cubase comes with a list pre made patch scripts, but they dont have one for the Triton Extreme .. morever the Extreme has some 10 to 12 banks and its gonna be a pain in the ass for me to make a patch name script for it in the MIDI device manager of Cubase...

i was just wondering if any of u guys have already made a patch script for Triton Extreme, and if u dont mind u could share it with me...

thanks 8)

Hello,

Why do yoy need an xml file?
Just copy the patchname script in the folder specified below and it should appear in Cubase (if I remember well). I found this file via Google, on a russian site as you can see...

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase SX\Scripts\patchnames
Let me know if it worked.

hi there...dude i tried copying and pasting, but it did not work. it has never worked for me that way..

I tried importing the text file, using the import command in device manager. It showed a quick progress bar as if the file was being imported but then cubase closes immediately after that. and after reopening cubase i still dont find the script in it...

in fact i remember the last time i pased on a patchscript to a friend for a korg workstation, think twas a trinity, i gave him an xml file exported from cubase, and he simply had to import it in the midi device manager of his nuendo, and bingo he was ready to go..

it seems to me after reading the help file, that cubase can only import files which have been exported thru cubase or nuendo, which inevitable will be an xml file.

but interesting thing here is that, if one goes to the patch scripts folder inside cubase , one will notice that all scripts exist as normal text files only...

so wheres the catch.. i really cant find out...

You can load a Cubase xml-File into a text editor after renaming the .xml-ending into .txt

So you can edit the text more easily and when you finished, rename it back to .xml!

For me this works very well... :)

hi LuMar.. i have the text file..but changing its extension to .xml does not make any difference... it still remains a text file and does not get imported into cubase...

i dont think this happens.. i have tried all this.. infact u dont need to rename a cubase exported xml file as .txt to edit it in text editor.. if u notice all patch scripts in the patchsrcipt folder of cubase are already in a word text form..

now i am left with only one issue.. i have the txt file... thanks non_04:05:03:05:7... but now how do i convert it to an xml file so that i can import it in cubase, or is there any way for me to import this file as a text itself...

note that i have tried copying pasting the text file in the patchscript folder.. but that dont work...

Correct me if i am wrong but i think a cubase exported xml file, and any other xml file are not exactly the same.. In fact if u would notice when u export a setup from device manager, inthe file type area it says steinberg xml file, and not just xml file...

OK, I gave a look and it works now.
Step by step guide:

1/ Download the modified PatchScript here.
(scroll down > Select your download: click the "FREE" button > scroll down > Download: Korg.Triton.Ex.zip).

2/ UnZip the archive and copy the new script to:
"C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase SX\Scripts\Patchnames\inactive\Korg\"
3/ Launch Cubase.

4/ Go to "Devices" menu > "MIDI Devices Manager" > Click the "Install device" button.
(Please note that command names can be a tad different because I'm using the french interface).

3/ Scroll down to "Triton Extreme" > select it and click OK.

4/ :)

hay non_04:05:03:05:7... that worked smooth as butter.. man i am so delighted to see the extreme appear in the patch list inside device manager... thanks a lot again buddy....:hail:

so really the mistake we or rather I was doing uptil now was that I was coppying pasting the text patchfile in

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase SX\Scripts\patchnames
and not

Code: Select all

"C:\Documents and Settings\Jose\Application Data\Steinberg\Cubase SX\Scripts\Patchnames\inactive \ Korg\"

btw the second time around u asked me to download the modified file... did u actually modify anything inside.. coz i tried this with the old patchscipt u gave me and it worked too...

PS : While we spk , my boss just informs me that a Roland XV 5080 is Making its way into the studio.. well gotta chk it out, but dont be surprised if u see my post for a patchscript for it too

Thanks again to everybody....

Yep, that was just the wrong location but it seems that Cubase don't look in both folders as it should... hum.
Concerning the script, I just modified the code name so "Triton Extreme (KORG)" would appear in the device list (instead of "Extreme (KORG)" which sux I think, hehe, because the other built-in Triton scripts are listed as "Triton (KORG)" so with the modified script all Triton scripts are appearing grouped alphabeticaly).

Congrats for the XV.. great machine.

Concerning the XV-5080, you can find scripts here and here(scroll down to the "CUBASE SX SCRIPTS" section).

Have fun.
