if a singer were to come to me with a vocal part, and i built a song around it, what would be my title? i would just be producing the song and have nothing else to do with it when it leaves my door.

if you build a song around just a vocal part, I'd say you get co-writers credit as well.

Personally I'd say you should get main song authorship, with the vocalist getting co-credits...you can have a tune without vocals, but you can't have a vocal without a tune...well, you can, but not many people buy acapellas.
