Now that the effect and its novelty are (un)officially dead, had anyone ever come up with a freebie software version of the Cher "Believe" pitch-glitch process? The rush was on by a lot of people, but I never saw who made it to the finish line.

the Cher vocal effect was a result of overusing Antares Autotune, but seriously I hope no-one ever makes a freeware plug that does the same thing because if that day comes I'll probably quit making music in disgust!

Funny thing is. Everyone seems to want it, but if/when they finally do get it, they will use and abuse it, and then not know how or when to implement it in a song.

I actually heard somewhere it was a Digitech 'Talker' unit.

BetaBugs CarToon is basically complete, but needs the dev to be able to afford the Max/MSP kit to complete it (it was written using the 30-day demo).

I'll see where it's up to now...

Click on my signature pic and try GSnap (It's down the bottom of the page, in the beta bit). Let me know how it goes. I might even get round to finishing it.

its Auto Tune with the retune speed set to 0, try it and you'll know that's what it is

I have the future music mag from '98 or '99 where the producers mention the digitech talker was used, not that I care though as its a shitey thing to do to a voice.

This topic has been done to death, but since there's still some misinformation, all I can say is "It's NOT Autotune". That much is from the horse's mouth. Digitech talker sounds right, but my memory's not THAT good.

Someone had a good "Dummy's Guide to..." graphic that says it all. ;)
