Just a little warning, the cycling 74 demo of hipno has some form of pace/ilok in it. I don't know if it is dangerous or not. It notes this in the readme file.

I'm on winxp. When I uninstalled hipno, remnants of pace's TKPD stuff were still in my registry. Fortunately, hipno triggers a windows restore check point before it is installed. Going back to this restore point cleared out the TKPD entries.

Hooray! Pace may be useless for protecting software but it's doing an excellent job of protecting my credit card balance. :P

That's three products this year I would have bought if it weren't for Pace and we've still got two months to go!

I still don't get all the PACE whining. I have PACE on my machine and it works fantastic.

There's a pony in the mail for you!

Some people have problems, some don't. I'm not installing a kernel-level driver for anybody's copy protection.

I had a tough time installing my codes, but it has nothing to do with ilok...infact I just tried to install something else and got the same message...the cure is to use a different computer to code my ilok...but Antares did it for me...since that happened I figured it would be a nightmare, it's been more then a week...so far no additional problems.

That rules it out for me too...

Pace - been there and don't go there anymore.

Someone should use this as a sig :D

there are a couple of plugs in hipno which are really interesting... but to me ilok is a problem as well, so no hipno... sorry cycling...
ps: it would be better to leave the buyer free to buy just the plugs he likes, i don't need the whole bundle so why should i pay for things i don't need/like?

Who is whining? People are saying where they won't spend their money. That's a problem for the seller, and a benefit for the (non) buyer.

I think it's pretty obvious what I meant, thanks.

From what I understand, there's been several problems with Windows systems running the iLok software drivers. It causes a lot of headaches with system crashes and such. I had a problem with them, also, when I was evaluating using my laptop as my primary music computer. Intially things looked really good until I loaded Pluggo and Antares Auto-tune. I don't even use Pluggo anymore. Anyhow, up until that point, my machine was solid and I was serious about switching... then I loaded the iLok stuff and all hell broke out. Plus, getting those pesky drivers off of my laptop was a huge mess. I gave up on the laptop idea and went back to my Mac. Cycling changed their copy protection several months ago to the iLok. To me, I don't care because I've never had any issues with it on my Mac but I can fully understand how furious someone could be if they bought the software AND it made their system unstable. It's a double insult. Some people have no trouble running those drivers, though. You're lucky, FWIW. :hihi:

I'm selling my Pluggo. I just don't use it. I did a search and found this thread and thought I'd add my experience to it.

Ciao.

Yup... FWIW there seems to be three types of Pace:
- non-TPKD Challenge/Response wrapper (the most benign form of Pace and usually trouble-free).
- TPKD C/R
- Ilok dongle

The latter two are both pretty troublesome for some people.

It's also considerably less ironic on the mac since pace-protected mac plugs don't seem to be cracked within hours of release the way they are on the pc. Still, I don't think there's any pace stuff out there I can't live without.
