I guess, but these guys have trained most of their lives in order to play those bastard sustained notes that Brahms inconsiderately put in his score, so I'm not sure that my breathing will be a worthwhile comparison. I'll give it a go though.

I usually PREFER to have errors in my playing with orchestral pieces to feel more realistic.
I know what you mean but it's a fine line to walk.

I'd admit for myself to saying that keeping an error for realsism can also translate into I should spend another hour midi editing and tidying up.

Can I give this a bump so the weekend crowd don't miss it?

.. listening to it on my powerbook it sounds superb and absolutely convincing soundwise. sure, if i get to listen to it on my hifi i´ll find things being less convincing, but all in all i am very impressed .. most of all cause you wrote the stuff yourself .. :)

cheers to that

im a big fan of chagzukis orchestral stuff, i find it very cinematic, not typically orchestral sounding, but very authentic anyway.

buy the album ;)

Where's the movie, and how much did the orchestra cost you? You were the conductor right?

Very kind words. Thanks guys.

The orchestra can be hired for an indefinite period for a single one off fee of about $999 (though it's on offer at half price at the moment). And as I said, the woodwind players have the best lungs in the business.

Hi chagzuki, I enjoyed listening to this. Mix sounds good and the dynamics are excellent. This is quite a bit better than I would be able to produce, so unable to provide anything constructive except maybe I too would like to here a clearer structure tying it together (personal taste, of course). Excellent effort :violin:

Y'know, I know that Gold is much better, and I know it's on sale...but at the same time, I'm at war with the credit card companies and IRS...so, I opted for Silver, which is available here in the US (if you look around) for $140 at the moment.

Any orchestration I do will be on the, what shall we say...Bach scale? I love Wagnerian grandeur, but that's gonna have to wait on a number of things, including a RAM expansion to 2GB or up, I think.

Gold is awesome and a huge leap up from silver, but it's true that it requires 2GB RAM to run comfortably. Chances are the half price sale is an indicaton that the price will be lowered soon anyhow, plus there's the oddly titled XP Pro update coming out. It's all a bit confusing really. So for the time being, enjoy silver!

Now that chips ain't getting any faster, it's proably worth upgrading machines rather than buying new ones all the time. So, my one-year-old Dell is going to get the full treatment -- up to 4GB plus another 250-300GB hard drive -- soon as is feasible.

What I'd really like is about 16GB of RAM and a 10-Terabyte server, so I don't have to think about hardware for five years or so...

Right now, I deal with what I've got, though...

I've listened to a lot of 'silver' demoes, and checked its list of instruments, and it's fine for what I have in mind during the next 18 months...

Thanks for the advice. And keep doing stuff...that was an amazingly nice orchestration...
