Btw, both AC/DC Youngs are (or have been, for a long time, no idea about their current setup) using ADA MP1s onstage.
When I've been reading about it I found it quite amazing that one of the most "earthbound" rock bands is using digital stuff as a main ingredient of their guitar tones.

Well, right! Nothing wrong with THAT set up (Squids even jealous... a tweed twin???). Gear is great. Nothing would stop me from buying more guitars OR amps. It LIVES! But, you know, we all like our software gear too so... at least most of us around here!SJ_Digriz wrote: That doesn't mean I think AT2 will sound bad. I have AT1 and should get my AT2 as soon as it is shipping. I love to play with the toys. I look forward to messing with it. However, I don't see how it would be something I would want to gig with. I HOPE TO HELL IT PROVES ME WRONG!!! I have a vintage strat and an old twin, so I can get "that" sound. However, I don't have a good modern humbucker or a decent marshall anymore, so I would kill to get that without having to throw a few thousand $$$ around.

Bear in mind Squids does not work for IK. He works for Sonic Reality, who do sound design for IK products.

thanx for reminding me of that Andrew...anyhow as I see it IK has narrowed it's scope on a select group, and I don't think it's exactly at the guitar players who are further along in years, and that's okay...I'll be interested to hear what people think still and try the demo perhaps (though I'm still not thrilled about adding more processing to my machine)...Andrew Vernon wrote:Bear in mind Squids does not work for IK. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Some people like dildos some people like bottlenecks! To each his own!
Wow. What a thread. Is that a smushed Kermit Vurt? It's not easy being green you know.

You sure about that?
The switching is digital, but...

The tone is created by tubes, but as there's no motor faders/knobs on it, all the leveling and stuff is happening in the digital domain.championrabbit wrote: Digital?

That's been no contradiction at all.championrabbit wrote: Ha!
The basic tone in ADA MP1s is amplified using tubes, but further stages of shaping are done in the digital domain. And as the signal is passing those circuits 100%, digital stuff *is* a main ingredient of the sound.

I did have a few more pedals until just recently. I had a Marshall Bluescreamer, a Ibanez PH-7 and DS-7. Now all of these pedals are pretty cheap and not exactly good, I mean, the Ibanez DS (distortion pedal) was f**king NASTY. Sounded like when you run a sample player through the clip~ object in Max/MSP.
But linking them all up, running the signal into the amp, then into the computer. Then running a microphone into the input of the first pedal, and putting the microphone up to the speaker cone... I've gotten some really sweet sounding warbles and feedback swells.
I'm hoping to do the same sort of stuff with AT2, with more pedals
I gave the Marshall pedal to my friend, and I swapped the two Ibanes pedals for a Morely Wah pedal - which is a lot sweeter sounding than the Ibanez's.
My friend and I tried an experiment (of sorts) the other night.

We ran this CASIO MT-68 through the Morely Wah, then into a VOX Pathfinder (the 15watt version) added some tremolo, instant degraded Farfisa style organ!!
He played some chords, wahing them in, and I plucked notes, ramped them in with the volume pot on my Ibanez, endless feedback on the delay on my VOX Valvetronix. Just gorgeous washes of sound all round!
I mention all this as an example of what I want to try to do with AT2. I don't wanna just use it for guitar, although it would certain be sweet to get some Porcupine Tree style tones from it, I want to experiment.
I might even tape a contact mic to my foreskin and crack one off... see what it sounds like.

The website wasn't working for me. I figured maybe they were updating it. But it works now, and nothing new.
