Mine, too.

Thankfully I have a couple of well-to-do friends who like to buy lots of music gear, even if they are never going to use it! I get to record with some pretty high class old Zildians and Paistes as a result.

btw, did you see this? There are a couple of tracks put up by the composer which I did the arrangements, production, engineering and even playing on!

:)

Yes I saw that, just had a listen at work (bad speakers, etc...) And I thought it quite interesting.

I will listen under better conditions, and comment in the appropriate thread later, when I get home.

Has anyone used this yet?

Any bugs or problems?

I checked it out a couple of days ago and everything was working fine. I was wondering if you could break down the various velocities levels where the different snares and other drums kick in. This might be helpful when programming midi.

I had also previously purchased Endangered Rhythms which I really like. There could be one improvement but it may involve alot of work. In Cubase, when I import one of the drum samples, I look at the total number of samples (24 bits) of the drumloop. It seems the total sample number is a little less that the amount shown in Cubase for that particular tempo. It would be nice if these were perfect for those times that I want to use time compression.

Also, when I loaded the midi files with you soundfont sample set, the tempo shows 80.2 bpm. I was wondering what was causing this small differnce. Perhaps your audio software is slightly different. Anyways, keep up the great work. Only offering these suggestions to make your product even better.

Thanks for the detailed critique.

This is the very first sfz instrument I have made, and I was basically trying to make something simple and functional to see how it worked on others systems before committing myself to a bigger effort. I will work on the velocity layering to make it smoother. Future efforts will have many more samples per drum.

Actually, I have been thinking the same thing. One of the great things about ReCycle is that you can export wave files of exact length. As I make the rex2 files for the upcoming release of ER volume 2, I have been exporting the wave files, so that all of the wave files in the same folder have identical time-lengths.

These will be made available as the package approaches release time.

Thanks again for the feedback!

I've decided that for my monthly comp entry, I'm going to use this drum kit, and Guido's new fangled PM trumpet. So there ya go, I'll post when it's done :)

I look forward to hearing it.

If only I had time to enter.

tbh, I don't really have time.. it will be worked on in my lunch breaks [being a dev at work means I can install whatever the heck I like on my machine! Boss: 'So why do you need a VSTHost/Sequencer on your PC' DSP: 'well, you never know what setup an accountant might have, so it's best to test all scenarios' :hihi:]

I did have fun and I did also find an error: check line 34 in the sfz file 'cause one of the A's went walk about and you ended up with aampeg_sustain & mpeg_release instead of ampeg_sustain & ampeg_release!

If you load this kit into Dimension the parser will alert you to this by throwing up an error log.

I noticed that last night, and have corrected it.

Thanks for catching that!

I will upload the new one in a short while.

Correction made.

Thanks again, paradroid!

BTW, did you see that there was an error in the sfz file that has since been repaired?

You might want to download the new one.

I did see the error, and did a homebrew correction, but I'll d/l just to keep your web stats up :)

Isn't sfz great?

It can do almost anything, and all you need is a text editor.

And it's free!
