I'm looking to buy the Expansion Sample Tank Special Edition. A few questions on the LE that it ships with :

1). Can i import wave files? I heard it cant import akai, thats fine, but i want to import atleast wave files. Is this possible?

2). In the future, can i upgrade to Sample Tank XL/L?

3). How are the sounds in the expansion tank? How many are there approximately?

Thanks guyz. :D

hi keyman_sam,,,

The number of sounds depends on which expansion take you purchase,,, which one are you getting?

Sampletank LE is based on the Sampletank engine, but it does have a few limitations. It is limited to one instance, can't import other formats, can't change the background color and doesn't have a few of the layout functions of the full Sampletank engine. It also limits the number of effects you can use.

You can indeed upgrade from LE to XL/L. In fact, if you don't have any qualifying upgrade products, buying an expansion tank is actually a smart move. Here's why,,, if you purchase an expansion tank, it will come with LE, and will either include LE or might cost $10. This will qualify you for the upgrade price, which will be cheaper than buying Sampletank at the regular price.

Not knowing exactly what you're getting makes it hard to comment on "how the sounds are". Count on them being good though. 8)

Harmony Gardens has it pretty much right, but I'd just like to clarify a few things -

SampleTank2 LE has fewer sound editing options - ST2LE has one page, ST2 full has eight pages. Also, ST2LE only allows editing of the first two effects slots (including selecting an effect for the second slot).

It's important to keep in mind though, that ST2LE has the FULL SamplTank2 engine "under the hood", so the actual sounds and presets are not changed or crippled in any way. You'll just have fewer options for modifying the sound (although you can always use plugin effects in your host / sequencer after ST2LE).

That ugly, unchangeable red was part of the reason I upgraded :D (no, not really, but it IS ugly).

Thanks for the reply guyz! I googled a bit and found out that it cant load external samples. Real bummer as i'm limited to the sounds it offers.

Regarding what expansion : The reason i bought this up is because an online store is selling a Special Edition Expansions collection for 25 dollars! It has sounds from various expansions, i believe.

I agree with Tele here,,, you could think of it as paying $25 for the sounds, and getting a free dedicated player. Also, if you don't have any other eligable products, it will get you into the upgrade price for Sampletank L/XL, too, if you decide you want to, and give you a good test to see if Sampletank if for you. I believe you could also run any of the Sampletank Free sounds in it, too.

Not exactly true....it CAN load other ST2 samples. Why is that important you ask? ;-)

BECAUSE...you can buy d/l ST2 samples from esoundz that come from both Capsules and Expansion Tanks...and those will load fine....you can also get a discount on one of them on esoundz ( I think it's the Capsules) since you already have ST2!

Just a little extra info...
