Hi,
I'm using Hypersonic 2 right now, and loves the fact that I can edit patches to reponse to my breath controller (Yamaha WX5 Wind MIDI controller.) I'm planning to buy Sonik Synth 2 after hearing the demos from a friend of mine, but he and I both haven't figure out if SS2 patches can be configurated to response to breath controller... Any idea? If possible, please show me the way to do it too so that I can try it on my friend's computer and for my future purchase.

Thanks,
Kenny.

Sure any parameter in Sonik Synth 2 can respond to breath control simply by assigning the breath control midi CC in the midi control connections. You first click the midi control button and then the parameter you want to control. Then a small menu pops up where you can choose which CC. I forget which number breath control is but I think it says it anyway or you can look it up otherwise. Easy to do.

Thanks Squids, I'll try that on my friend's computer to see if it work...

Well, I don't know what I've missed but seems like I can't set a patch to reponse to breath controller instead of velocity from a keyboard... Here is what I've did:

1. Click the MIDI Ctrl button
2. Click on the Volume (is this the right button, anyway??? In Hypersonic, under the MOD tab, I modify the "Amp" setting to control the loudness/softness of a patch).
3. None of the CC shown up, I've tried to blow into my WX5 MIDI controller to see if that would do a "midi learn" like SaxLab but nope, it didn't work...

Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot,
Kenny.

That should work I think. But, another thing you can do is connect midi control to the amp level of Envelope 1 (which is also volume). You may want to adjust the min and max levels though to get it just right (that's in the black and white window of the midi control after you've selected the parameter). You can also try it with other parameters as well such as filter etc. But, you should be able to apply it to the regular overall volume for the part too... odd.

Couldn't do it :( I click on the MIDI CTL button, click on the the knob that labeled "Level" while in the Envelope 1 setting, a dialog appear with the name of the patch, the "Knob" says "EnvlLevel", with these settings:

Min = -60 dB; Max = 20.0 dB

Under "Controller Number", it says "n/a"! I know that breath controller CC# is 2... Any idea???

Thanks,
Kenny.

Right. Breath Control is CC2. So, all you have to do is after you click on midi cntrl and then the level knob in the black and white box you set the midi CC to "2" and away you go. If you want to set the min and max to a specific range then you'd tweak that (unfortunately, in order to get BACK to the midi control to tweak that if you didn't the first time you have to set up a midi cntrl path again but in that you can go back to the previous one which is still in that black and white box - and then just ignore the new connection).

It should be that hard to do. I am not sure why you are having so much trouble.

Click where it says "n/a" and drag up. :)
