I'm using this under Reaper. Recently got some IR files from the IR link, and loaded them in SIR. VERY beatiful sound, when playing my EWQL Sax. It sounds like a 10 grand reverb unit!

However, there's a problem. It seems the latency is VERY high. I mean, for all my other synths and effects, there's not a problem, but this one seems to take a while before delivering the output.

For example, even though my latency is set to 7ms, and when i strike a note, i immediately hear the dry sax note, it takes some time for the reverb to hit. It sounds like the predelay was set to 100 ms or something (its actually set to 0). I tried just the dry output from SIR and it still adds a lot of latency. Any solution to this?

Also, any other free impulse response reverb effects? I dont mind its high cpu consumption, as long as the sound is gold.

This plugin have a big latency !
You can't use it in live.
Try other reverb

Glaceverb is great.

SIR is great. I'd say to use something like Glaceverb for tracking, then if you really like SIR, just throw it in for mixing. Granted that you have a host with PDC. I don't know if Reaper has it yet, does it? I'm sure they will get it soon if they don't.

There's nothing that can be done about the latency other than using a host with plugin delay compensation, which even then will only work on playback.

I do wish it had a sync to beat feature with the latency though, like dtblk.

Reaper comes with his own IR plugin called Reaverb !
Didn't you try it ?
It might have better latency than SIR....

The best ir reverb i've tried is wizooverb, but it costs about $200 for the small version and $499 for big one.

you can load short impulses in the excellent Boogex (free)
there is also revolverb (free)
and convoboy (cheap).

Elevayta Convo Boy-minimum delay of 23 ms, WAY lower than SIR and it only costs $20 USD.

I cant find a download like for revolverb.

Reaverb doesnt work either. I tried it, and it just gives me an error in ext.

At the moment, i think that REaper's plugins, even if they are VST only work in REaper. I had the same problem : keep them in their native "effects" folder, adn use them in reaper.
Or use convoboy.

I would say ArtsAcoustic. Some people said its the first software reverber that sounds like hardware, and doesn't cost too much.

One more thing about Reaverb : it is still at a beta stage, and as the development goes pretty fast, it might get a fully well-working VST bloated of feature quickly.

SIR sounds gorgeous...but....
