any reason for expiration date?sinkmusic wrote:I don't understand why is there any expiry date ? I just checked again on the site, and it is mentionned nowhere that it is payware/demoware... So why a demmo limitation feature if the thing is free ?John [Humanoid Sound Sys] wrote:Oh and I changed the expiry date to 31st Jan 2007.
It seems absurd to me...

Same with me & my hosts.AdmiralQuality wrote:Can't seem to load the latest version into any hosts.
I get an error message about its incorrect configuration
and that I should reinstall the application.
Reinstall didn't help...
0_9_4 worked, but i deleted its installer.
Cheers,

The installation seems to be okay. The problem is actually with the .dll file. After uninstalling the old and installing the new it wouldn't load into my hosts, either. I simply replace the new .dll with the old version (which I always save when updating betas) and SS worked again.

Well then you're still running the old one.daniel wrote:The installation seems to be okay. The problem is actually with the .dll file. What I meant was that the old installer (which tl stated was deleted) wasn't needed to revert back to the last version that worked on your system. Just replace the new .dll with the old. This info may also help John to track down where the problem is, also. Yes, you will then have an older version but it will at least function until the next update.

The last version I tried was months ago. THIS one doesn't work. I don't WANT the one I tried months ago.daniel wrote:What I meant was that the old installer (which tl stated was deleted) wasn't needed to revert back to the last version that worked on your system. Also, it seems that version came with no version number. It is dated March 13 though.
Do you see how this isn't helpful to either party?

For those in whose hosts it doesn't load, could you tell me how it doesn't work? Does it appear in the list of plugins and does it show any error messages?

Hey John good to hear from you.John [Humanoid Sound Sys] wrote:For those in whose hosts it doesn't load, could you tell me how it doesn't work? Does it appear in the list of plugins and does it show any error messages?
No error messages. Not in the list so can't attempt to force a load. Just like it's not even there.
(EDIT: In my experience, this usually means a pointer is out of range somewhere.)

For me in Audiomulch or EnergyXt it appears in the list but when loaded there's an error message shown...John [Humanoid Sound Sys] wrote:For those in whose hosts it doesn't load, could you tell me how it doesn't work? Does it appear in the list of plugins and does it show any error messages?
Both hosts can be tested, cause there are demos online.

Ah! Here's an interesting clue. In eXT it didn't show on my list at all. But I had installed it under a subdirectory in my vstplugins folder. (It was under vstplugins/KVR Characters/www.humanoidsounds.co.uk
)
When I moved the www.humanoidsounds.co.uk folder up a directory, it then showed up in eXT's list. But I get the error message... "The application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
Hmmmm... having trouble detecting the directory your .dll is in maybe? If so, let me know, I have code for that.
I'm going to try reinstalling and take the defaults...
- completely deleted the www.humanoidsounds.co.uk directory from my vstplugins
- running installer again ScannedSynthVST_0_9_5_h8893.exe
- Ah, this time I'm noting that it's a bit odd to not base all your files in the vstplugins folder, you put some stuff in C:\Program Files. If you were DX and VST then it would make more sense. I don't see this as wrong, just a bit unusual. I accepted the default here.
- Now it's asking for the vstplugins folder. Hey John, did you know about this registry key you can look for to help find the folder? KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VST and value is VSTPluginsPath (Check out my Poly-Ana installer, also made of NSIS, it auto-detects it.)
- I pointed it at my vstplugins folder, and it added Scanned Synth VST to the end (I have Poly-Ana install doing the same thing. NSIS is slick, eh?)
- No errors in show details.
Launching eXT again... now it's under Scanned Synth now. But I get the same error messagebox as above. But oddly I can open it (its just an empty eXT window shell around a 0x0 pixel client area) and it doesn't seem to do anything. Empty shell.
Trying it now in Bidule... not in the VSTi list... rescanning plugins... your .dll not mentioned in list of problem .dlls.... I still don't see it on the list but Plogue is a bit odd in that it lists them by manufacturer, not by their directory. Just went through them all and didn't see ScannedSynth anywhere.
OK, now you show in the unloadable list in SX3. Forced it and it didn't show in the instrument list. DID show in the effect list!!! But still wouldn't load.
Clues. But why would it work on some people's systems. Is there something system global that you're detecting that could be OK on some systems but put a pointer out of whack on others?
Hard to test if you can't reproduce it, I know. Let me know if you need more help. Maybe I can run a Debug version and see how far it gets? (Or do I need your whole source project to do that? I dunno... never tried.)
Oh by the way, I see a registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Scanned Synth VST it contains a default entry with string C:\Program Files\Scanned Synth VST
Hope that helps.

j2luk, i chose the default install+my vst folder/humanoidsounds.and this version works fine in ext.
the last version gave me problems,so good news for some of us.
winxp home.sp2,asio4all.
(wish there was tool tips on those little green knobs, rtm,i think)
also the randomiser was great, though the def vol maybe shouldn't be full.

You're right there. First thy were labeled buttons which self explained their function. But at the last moment they were replaced with knobs. Now their function is a bit clouded.(wish there was tool tips on those little green knobs, rtm,i think)
They work together with the randomizing button. If you set a knob to 0%, there is no randomization of the randomizing group (you could check the manual to see which knob controls which group, but I think (hope) the GUI is clear about it), if you set the knob to 100%, you get wild variations in parameter value. I hope their function is clear now.
