Hi Im looking for something that can host VSTs and process sound before it leaves the soundcard, kind of like the same way a soundcard driver's built in EQ works on all signals before they are output. But I can't use my soundcards built in EQ drivers because A) They aren't parametric and B) They aren't Left/Right seperated. Is there a host like this? If there is can it minimize to the taskbar to be kind of transparent when working? Im using ASIO so that's not an issue.

Couldn't you just stick a VST on the main output?.. you wouldn't notice much different surely, then again I am no pro.camsr wrote:Hi Im looking for something that can host VSTs and process sound before it leaves the soundcard, kind of like the same way a soundcard driver's built in EQ works on all signals before they are output. I do not want to record the EQ settings when I record and render, only when monitoring. And it's a hassle to have to turn on and off things and not have the meters read correctly for the project. Not to mention adding the same VSTs and settings everytime I start a new project.

There's probably a way to do it where there's a small host with the EQ configured for your soundcard outs, and your audio app output is configured to feed the above host... but I'm still trying to figure out why you'd wanna do this....?camsr wrote:Surely there must be some kind of program that can use VST effects on any audio from the computer?
I have a cunning plan ...

frustratingly hard to do this kind of simple thing atm. the simplest solution would be for s'card mixer software to support vsts. afaik you can only do this with the patchmix on an emu card, with start at £69 for the 0404.
i assume you want this for room correction, and have gone as far as with room treatment?

This actually sounds like your monitoring system needs taken care of...camsr wrote:I do not want to record the EQ settings when I record and render, only when monitoring. Yeah but I also would like to use it for other things like high compression low level listening at night when people are sleeping. I could just slap on a compressor and turn down the volume and still hear all of it; video games, music, movies. As for my monitoring system, its as good as it gets for the time being, but I am thinking of getting some first reflection treatments.

sorry i think i may have it wrong, dont own the software was just reading the emu site. i assume its only the dsp effects that can be used as vsts, and patchmix cant host 3rd party vsts, shame. but i guess the included effects would cover output equalisation needs though.Mutant wrote:?????????martian wrote:the simplest solution would be for s'card mixer software to support vsts. afaik you can only do this with the patchmix on an emu card
