@Theo: I think he said there will be a full bank. So I guess 128

Post

There's 70 presets now. There will be a full bank of 128 for version 1.0. And many more free banks will be put up on our website during the product lifetime.

that's very kind ... thank you :D
OK, here is a special SSE disabled version. Please only download this if you have an older processor that doesn't support SSE (anything from Pentium 3 or Athalon XP and newer should be FINE. You would only want this version if Poly-Ana isn't running at all on your older processor.)

I would tend to think that on older processors that predate SSE you'll probably find Poly-Ana more CPU demanding than is convenient to use. But, I'll leave that decision to you. You can work around CPU issues by reducing the Quality setting to 1X oversampling while you're playing/recording, then crank it back up when you render your instrument tracks. Power saving techniques like that might make it useable for you.

And please let me know your opinion on if you feel this version is worthwhile or too slow to bother with on your machine.

Cheers!

Thanks Admiral :D downloading now ...

Still doesn't show up in the Live browser, but it does now load in Savi Host.
It's a very impressive sounding synth and the presets are all top quality. I'm getting a 60% CPU hit with some patches, and screen redraws are a bit slow, but the audio quality is excellent. Tweaking with the mouse is a bit hit and miss ... haven't sussed out if there's a fine adjust. Huge GUI too :hihi: (my laptop only goes up to 1024x768)
First impressions are very good, but if I was going to buy I'd need it to work in Live. I'm looking forward to my week with Poly-Ana :D

TCC, did you try rescanning for plug-ins in Ableton? I think it's something like Preferences | Plugins. It might just be remembering that it couldn't load it from before and have it disabled.

Glad you like the sound! Don't worry, I'm sure this is just some thing that we'll get worked out.

Oh and P.S. You can change the knob controls to be whatever mode you like. They default to your host preference, but you can override this to force linear, circular, or relative circular knob modes. In the Options dialog. (Click the product name)

a tweaker's work is never done
After a couple of trial runs with the demo in FL7 -- my usual testbed for synths, even though it's a crowded space -- I'm pretty happy. It's a go, soon as money appears. :)

Now, I'm such a 'preset guy' that I can't tell if this is many-times-more-complex than other synths, or whether it's just because it has all its underwear showing. It's certainly amusing to tweak some of the more pedestrian presets and produce unlikely sounds...

But because my focus ought to be music, not twiddling, I'm hoping that designers will come up with at least a couple more banks.

Yep funxi. We just don't have a lot of sounds made yet because we may have still been tweaking voice parameters during the Beta period. (In fact, excepting some bug fixes, very little changed at all that would affect the sound of your patches since the original Beta 0.10 release. But it could have been otherwise.)

Now that the voice architecture is "nailed down", the sounds will just keep on coming. We'll add new (and free) Poly-Ana soundbanks to the website, from time to time.

Cheers.

This is a sweet synth, i must say. Great work!

I got the non-SSE version up and running in Live6.05 ... had to change my default custom plugin folder to another location and then back again to make Live re-scan properly, but it worked. CPU hit is very high (40%-75%) on most polyphonic patches, but I love the sound of this synth ...
Was wondering ... if I buy it now, and use the non-SSE build, can I upgrade to the regular version when I buy my new dual core PC, later this year?

Yep! You remain authorized no matter which version you've last installed.

Great, great synth. I lost out on three hours of sleep last night through playing with it.

Just got it last night too. Can't wait for more bass and pad presets - PolyAna can sound soo deep and smooth, will be great for that.

One question (bug report?) though: can you do something about those little clicks on voice stealing? They become most apparent when playing low mono bass notes fast as the synth runs out of voices (yes, I've made sure I don't get envelope clicks due to short attack or release times).

Also, any chance for increasing the maximum polyphony limit (to eg. 24)?
