Hi
This plugin look neat : thanks for sharing !

I dowloaded it, but i think i don't have the many required dll to make it work (it is not "seen" by any of my hosts).

Before i go for those missing dll's, is there any user feedback about :
- the cpu use for the stereo version ?
- how does it deal with long IR (reverbs, etc) ? Is it made to use with amps IR mainly, or can we expect a nice and glitch-free sound with near-to-zero latency in real time ?
- the sound quality ?

Post

Hi,
This topic is the only feedback I've found, so thanks everyone !
I did some measurements and the stereo version on full length FIR takes 70% of CPU on P4@3GHz and stereo audio track 44.1 kHz. Same params, mono version takes 35%.
Typical amp cabinet IR is rather short, so it shouldn't exceed 10% of CPU usage, but most reverb IRs are long, so it will be CPU greedy.
I did some recording with this plug already and it sounds great, but it was a guitar track on Randal amp IR. I'm not an expert with reverbs, so can't tell it's quality using reverb IRs.
:)

ok, thanks for the "benchmark", mr Habib !
;)

i only had chance to do a quick test in eXT with a short IR and it worked/sounded great.
brilliant! not sure why there isn't more fuss about it? (i'm no expert on this)
big thanks. :tu:

cubase4 does not recognise KeFir

I'll fix it on next update, I'm a bit behind latest standards :(

At first it did not work for me, I had just dragged the 3 files into my vst folder.
today I re-extracted them again so they are all in a folder called keFIRv1. Refreshed the plugin list in FL and now its working great.
You have to be careful how much level you send to this thing because it gets hella loud!
Its cool, but I don't really know what samples to put into it to get a predictable sound out of it.

Oh, I just realised you have to open libsndfile first, then open keFIR. Thats how it works.

Reaper doesn't seem to recognize Kefer.

I have Chainer running it and it uses the same plugin folder as Reaper for VST effects.

I've been using Chainer as sort of a wrapper by running Chainer in Reaper and Kefer within Chainer but it would be nice not to.

Reaper is generally very good at working with most plugins, you should give Justin a call if it isn't an obvious fix as he is very on top of things with Reaper and is into making things work.

I've just run keFIR (not Kefer :hihi: ) with Reaper 1.853 and works OK, both mono and stereo version.
So, to be sure, download keFIR once more and make sure You have additional dll's installed (as in previous posts).

btw, Reaper looks cool

Qué :?: :-o

Libsndfile is just a utility library used by keFIR, You do not do anything with it beside it exists on your drive in the same directory with keFIR.
To use keFIR You need impulse response file (usually wav's, check here http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=107337) which You load into keFIR.
Then keFIR filters Your track with the loaded impulse response.
