A few weeks back I was involved with creating backing tracks for a singer's project. One of the tunes required was an upright bass and vocal duet. That's difficult, because the upright bass had a really exposed part, not to mention being only a duet. I needed an upright bass sound that would sound realistic without a rhythm section to hide the nuances of realism.
I had a total of two days to create all the backing tracks, so I had my Motif set up, because the sounds are easy to use and sound nice. However, the upright on the Motif just didn't have that natural, organic tone I needed. I really couldn't skimp on this track, so I loaded up the ManyTone upright bass.
