fandango,
"wrap a MIDI VST inside a MIDI MFX" Interesting!
In Cubase, energyXT/VSTi can be used as an IN:
Not sure if this helps you any. I occasionally
use it as an IN to do some key mapping that will
apply to some or all the midi tracks.
BTW does any one else use energyXT as an IN?
I usually use it as an OUT.

hi Polac
if you happen to be following after ages this thread..
is xlutop chainer an abandoned project nowadays? or will it pop up all of a sudden in a glamourous version 2?
didnt know about Chainer till some ago, then i got more and more interested about that one..so the question is...will there be some development sooner or later?
Thx ...Peace

Yeah, in Sonar I can use EnergyXT as a MIDI IN for other tracks, but it needs it's own MIDI and Audio track which is kinda messy. I'd like to be able to just right-click on a MIDI FX bin on a MIDI Track and just insert EnergyXT as you would a regular MFX. Maybe Cakewalk will add support for MIDI VSTs in the FX bin at some point, but in the meantime it has to be done the long way.

repost, please someone answer this:
ok, for the record, do i understand this right?:
i only have to drag'n drop the dx shell onto shell2vst, and it creates a folder, within there are placed vst dll's of all my dx plugins?
does it matter where i put the shell2vst or the shells, or does it work from everywhere?
do those two shells and the shell2vst have to be at the same/a certain location?

Sort of related thread, if interested in MIDI mapping. Please see midiConverter.zip @ http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... &start=150 .
I write that this is related because I only recently saw this thread and while looking for cool free MFX I had found stuff like MFX PW-Map and MFX Control Cascade, and thought they would be cool.

@brok; put the shell2vst.exe and dxshell.dll+dxishell.dll+mfxshell.dll all in the same folder then just drag and drop each dll onto the shell2vst.exe icon and watch the magic.

I'm a bit OT but I'm looking for a vst wrapper who acts as a vstinstrument with a possibility to categorize and organize all my plugs. Actually, most of sequencers don't handle correctly my list, because I have too much plugs. I'm sure I'm not hte one concerned by this problem. Does this exist ?
You can't always get what you waaaant...

Stanlea and Dewdman42 I could use both of these ideas.
Star a new thread?
BTW even though I had earlier posted in this thread I was not informed that there were replies? Any one else had a similar issue?

Apparently there are technical reasons why all the MFX cannot be wrapped into VST and become VST midi FX. It seems to me magic that all this software even works. It is amazing what has already been done. Having the MFX wrapped into a VST though difficult pales in comparison to what already has been done. I suspect someone very creative will eventually be able to overcome all the technical roadblocks. Can't wait for the day.
