What's the difference between the Roland TR-809 and Roland TR-808? I have heard that the TR-809 is the same as the 808 but it has some sampled sounds like the TR-909? The TR-808 uses Pure Synthesis with No Samples. I have also heard they are extremely rare, much harder to find and more expensive then a used TR-808 or TR-909? If this is right the TR-809 is like a 808/909 Combo in a way? I did a Google and couldn't find a whole lot on the TR-809 for some reason. If anybody has any audio Examples of TR-809 sounds that would be Great! I want to here the difference in sounds between the 809 and 808. Thanks.

It's the first time I've ever heard of TR-809. Been searching and couldn't find a single page with actual info about it, only some mentions. So I'm interested in some examples too

I'm willing to bet any reference you find is a result of a typo.

there is mention in SOS if you google tr-089 or roland tr-809 bu tnothing about the machine itself, probably a super short run, maybe japan only

So there is no such thing as a TR-809??? I've actually seen a couple for sale on EBay a while back.

The TR-809 really does exist. Only 20-25 Units were produced by Roland. I said it was Extremely rare in my first post.

No I wish I did have a link to a page about it. All I could find was some guys personal web page in Japanese with the 809 Kick on it. I have no clue how I even found the link to download the sample? I think I clicked on every hyper link there was or something. Is it possible that this guy took apart a TR-808 and TR-909 and put them back together as one unit? AKA TR-809 As for the pictures I seen on EBay the TR-809's they were selling were Silver just like the TB-303's but had the exact same layout as a TR-808. And No it wasn't a TB-303 because I have already owned a few of those in the past and I know what they look like.

As far as the Kick Sound goes I like it much more than a 909 Kick. It's a hell of a lot Punchier and Deeper sounding, but not as Boomy/Subby as a 808 Kick.

So it might just be a typo or a bad translation? The TR606 looks a lot like a 303 ...

Could be what you saw on Ebay ...

No it wasn't a TR-606 I own one of those. It's possible that it could of been a painted TR-808 but what about the ones they were selling on EBay? Fakes? Or maybe some guy really did take the internals out of both a TR-909 and TR-808 and put them in one unit and painted it silver and badged it a TR-809? Even if this is the case I still find that really interesting. I'm going to send an email to Roland too see if they ever created a TR-809 right now. If anybody should know it would be the people who actually created it, If they even did is the mystery.
