Thanks, M-ford! Marc's EZ-EG/AG v.3.31 GUI seems super user-friendly for dorks like me so I'm happy there now. I'm sure it works something like what you describe. Does he ever come in here much?

He swings by somewhat regularly (bi-weekly, at least?)...Maruuk wrote:Thanks, M-ford! Marc's EZ-EG/AG v.3.31 GUI seems super user-friendly for dorks like me so I'm happy there now. I'm sure it works something like what you describe. Does he ever come in here much?

That's right - now there is a forum for the EZ family - please do visit and post a topic - you don't have to sign up but I recommend you do so that your post has a username and people know who you are!
EZ FORUM
OK, everybody should move over there then!
Just posted this in the forum section:
Please come on over there folks and continue your discussions!got my ez eg today from japan, second hand!
First thing I noticed is problems with the electricity. This should be eazy to fix, probably just need to work the cable soldering inside?
It want run on batteries at all, ive tried with two different sets. And when using a multi power suply it runs fine, but just the slightest movement shuts it of.. So eighter its bad conection somewhere, or I realy need the yamaha power suply that they recomend on the backside of the instrument..

Hi everyone, I joined EZ-AG club tonight...they are pretty scarce to find these days. The good news: I am getting Ableton 7 to respond using the simple MIDITHRU program of Marcs using Out to MIDI Yoke: 1.
But when I try to use EZ_AG 3 nothing is happening in live. Which option do I set so Live can see it? Is it under Left Split? MIDI Play? None of these worked...
My input is USB Audio Interface 2.
Also, when the MIDITHRU program is responding, it seems to hold notes too long, even after I let go of them.
Sorry to be the millionth person to ask for help, but I never done any midi routing before.
Thanks for your help.
Also, is Markelford's application still available?
Adam

I don't use those hta scripts, I think you are using one, in live your midi input should be midiyoke 1, sounded like you had a weird option there.

I don't use an hta script, I use an exe which is discontinued payware.
I would guess that midi thru means your're actually just using the midi straight from the guitar then, and the hta is doing nothing but passing the signal unaffected? I don't know the answer to those scripts.

You can't get the payware afaik, the other hta script you're talking about was called MIDIX, maybe recall a posting of it fairly recently, you could try going back thru say the last 10 pages.
I'm sure there's links to it farther back in this thread, but I don't know if they are still valid links. You could leave a message requesting that script on that one guy's new ez-ag board, scroll up he posts a lot, I think he's godofbass or something.

Thanks for all your help.
Don't know if this is out of date but I found this: http://www.tencrazy.com/gadgets/ezeg/
Well unfortunately my EZ didn't come with a power supply and my batteries just wore out, so I guess I'll have to try another day.
I would like to get the extra options in Marcs app working though!

I'm using Marc's EZ-AG htm (aka MIDIX)to run Tracktion. Had it working great a while back, now I can't remember how it hooks up. I'm driving it fine using my Midisport and the keys light up and all in the graphic, but the output is what throws me. Am I supposed to use Midi Yoke 1 as the official output of the app, and set that as the input into Tracktion? Seems like I tried that and I couldn't get the app to do anything.

Yeah, my app is still up there, though it's very old at this point: my EZ has been in the box for 2 years during two cross-country moves, and I think I've only done one minuscule (and "blind") update in that time.
It's one of those things I'd love to get back to, but it keeps getting pushed down the priority pile...

Midi setup in the EZ_AG 3.hta app is as follow.
EZ-AG/EG (MIDI IN) : Set the Midi in port where your EZ is connected
EZ-AG/EG(MIDI OUT) : this is the returning port to the EZ (optional), only used to show the scales or chords on the EZ.
Left Split (MIDI OUT) : Here you set the port you are using to send the midi to your host and is normaly a virtual midi "cable" ( midiyoke, maple, loopbe,..)
When Split Fret / Layer is set to some value, you can send midi to another virtual port ( or use the same than the left split)
This should work.
Make sure that in your host the virtual midi is enabled on input.
Now in your host it's better to disable the EZ input midi port -> EZ-AG/EG (MIDI IN) to avoid recieving both the data from the EZ and from the HTA app.
Also some MIDI drivers allow only a single instance being used.

Thanks Mark(s) for replying.
I got Markleford's app to work before my batteries ran out.
Thanks for the rundown on the EZ_AG 3
I did set up the Left Split to Out to MIDI Yoke: 1, and had In From Midi Yoke: 1 enabled in Ableton. The port where the EZ is plugged in was off. So I'm not sure what's not working.
The MIDITHRU program and Markleford's app both worked immediately. I have DirectX 9.
Any other thoughts?
I really appreciate your help.
Also in the KZ_AG 3 when I have the Fretboard visible it is showing the keys light up, so I know that it is reading the MIDI In...
