Well you're automatically registered for Looptalk upon purchase (that's how they make sure only registered users use it), but Looptalk's forum software doesn't report user numbers.

These numbers are all bogus though because I'm pretty sure that IL has sold more than 70,000 total copies of FL, and I'm sure Digidesign has sold FAR more than that. Forum members != users.

EDIT: Actually maybe not. It could all be in my head but 70,000 just doesn't sound like a lot of users. I seem to recall the number being in the hundreds of thousands for IL but I might be completely nuts. In fact I probably am :ud:

I am curious as to what "offical" Logic forum are you using?

Actually, it's a sign that the software isn't very well thought out. I mean, it's a good sign if a user can use it intuitively, without asking anyone for help. So low forum activity could mean a good host without many headaches!

We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. :borg:

So you're saying the fewer the number of forum members could mean the better the software? Interesting theory. As you know, forums aren't just about asking for help. They are also about sharing tips and tricks, sharing skins and presets, showing off music made with the host, making feature requests, etc. Higher forum activity could also mean the software is very feature rich and help is needed to dig down and understand all the power it provides. Also some users like myself aren't really RTFM kind of people so I appreciate the help from other users who are more experienced with a particular host and understand the questions I might have. I own Sonar, FL Studio, Orion Platinum, Energy XT, Cubase SE and Reaper. I'm finding the Reaper forums to be the most pleasant to use at this point and Reaper itself to be a very well thought out and feature rich program. Although I don't think the number of forum members exactly equates to the number of paying users there would be no reason to sign up unless you own, plan to own or God forbid use a cracked version of a particular host. Bottom line for me is while the numbers have a certain interesting entertainment value I could care less how many users a host can claim. It's what works for me that matters.

Actually, I'm kinda curious about how many KVR forum members have been banned over the years. It almost seems to be a badge of honor for some..... :D

Never PHP -- he's "created" (stolen) "his own" (someone else's) language. B++. I kid you not, he does make such a claim.

Do you even have to own that company's software to sign up for their forums? I know you have to for FLS but there may be quite a few of those sites that don't require ownership to just sign up for the forums. Heck I've watched the Sonar forums for a few years [a few nuggets of knowledge get dropped there from tim-to-time] and for the past few years you always seen a bunch of folks jumping in to ask questions that don't own the software yet [happens a more frequently during upgrade season].
